Why Am I Writing?
Before You Begin to write, I believe that it's important to ask yourself that question. Why are you writing this story, exactly? I don't believe that the reason itself is important, really. But I do believe that if you can answer that question, then you'll have a much easier time of developing and writing your story. Let me explain that, staying within the confines of writing erotic stories.
Let's Say That you've had this long-running fantasy in your mind. I'll stay with what I know here, and use my own fantasy. For years, I've had an ongoing fantasy that involves me adopting a little girl when she's very, very young, and as our relationship grows, so does our attachment to one another. By the time she's six years old, I've introduced her to the wonders of lesbian sex, and as she continues to grow up, we become lifelong lovers.
As I Said, this has been an ongoing fantasy of mine for years. When I begin to write it, I'll be doing so because it's something I just need to get out. I have a real NEED to get it out, get it organized. Writing it out will be the closest I'll ever come to actually living it. Therefore, I'll want to put as much detail into it as I can. The little girl is a character I care very much about. I've already done a lot of the personality development, her appearance, etc.
There Are Also those short, fast little fantasies that I sometimes have. Sometimes, when the kids are sound asleep here, and my husband and I are enjoying some adult time, we'll slip into some mild role play. To be blunt, he does me the best at those times when I urge him on by whispering in his ear, in a little girl voice, "Fuck me, Daddy. Fuck your little girl, please! Oh, GAWD, Daddy, I love your cock in my little cunt!"
That Particular Kind of fantasy is much more geared towards wanting to arouse the reader. While I still try to develop my characters in those stories, my focus is more on hoping that the reader will quickly become aroused to the point of needing to masturbate. I love the idea of my reader being unable to keep his or her hands away from their genitals as they read something that I've written.
What I'm Trying to get at is that the reason you want to write your story can help you a lot in deciding how you're going to write it. So, while you're thinking about your story, think about how you want your reader to react. Do you want them to become interested in your characters? Do you want them to develop a relationship with the people you're writing about? Do you want them to get so turned on that they sit at their computer with their pants at their ankles, a hand between their legs, trying to reach orgasm at the same time your characters do? (How hot is that, authors?)
Taking Some Time to consider why it is that you're writing a given story can help you out when you actually begin to write. Give the story some time to roll around in your mind before you actually start to write it. You'll be much happier with the final result.
