The Special Room

By

I nearly missed the door. I slipped on the narrow metal stairs. Despite the warning, I struck my head on the low hanging pipes. But PK was right. The room was perfect. I screamed at the top of my lungs with every lash, unheard over the roar of the compressors.

The End

I picture myself exploring the labyrinthine basements of a certain college campus in search of a somewhat scary playroom such as this. A brilliantly evocative Mini-Saga, and a great idea for those who like to play heavily but live in thin-walled apartments.

The Special Room is an excellent mini-saga because it feels complete in its own right, even when alluding to characters and acts that don't turn up on camera. I like the concise, descriptive language, and the last line is just perfect.

This is an intriguing beginning, but I felt like it was over far too quickly. It raised a lot of questions for me--where are they, what are they doing, and so forth. It shows a lot of skill that you've grabbed the reader's attention this quickly. I just wish that this had been a regular SSC entry, so that my curiosity could have been eased.
