It's Place

By

Tami <tamishy@webtv.net>

It laid there, as if it belonged. I just stood  and stared.  Knees buckling, questions brewing, answers sickening. Why? I knew it didn't really matter. For in a moment I would take it's place.  A simple sign, a belt laid on the back of the sofa. My fate is sealed.

Good use of the tiny word limit in this. Puts us in the mood straight away. Reasonably tight, plenty of tension.

A concise picture of what was shortly to take place well outlined within the somewhat inhibiting 50 word limit. Its difficult in such a confined limit to develop style but in this tale all the ingredients were well illustrated. Good effort.

A simple story which says alot. What fate would that be? To be good from now on?

This successfully creates a mood of suspense, and leads the readers to ask questions and flesh the story out on their own--is "it" the belt, or something else? Why is the narrator about to get spanked?
