Prologue:
The year was 2037 AD and Human-kind had not had a good few decades. 28 years ago, an alien ship crash landed on the planet Earth and set into action a course of events from which the world would never fully recover. The ship that crashed was huge. Miles across, yet strangely abandoned. Over the next three years, scientists studied the strange vessel and attempted to learn its secrets. It could travel faster than light, but best of all, the technology provided a new means of power called Proto-culture.
Humans learned to replicate the powerful yet environmentally safe energy source and used it to create entire fleets of giant humanoid shaped tanks called Battleoids or Mecha. The large Mecha stood anywhere from 40-70 feet tall and carried varying arrays of armaments, from long range missiles to energy cannons in the arms. The 100 ton machines, combined with new armored fighter planes called Veritechs proved a necessary invention, when a race called the Zentradi arrived at Earth to retrieve their lost vessel.
What followed, was a 15 year war with the humanoid species in which most of the details have been lost. After the war with the Zentradi, there was a short rest for Human-kind until the Zentradi's Masters arrived as reinforcements. Another 8 years were spent fighting the two races until they were finally vanquished from the planet.
In 2034, Humans rejoiced at their own magnificence. They had defeated a far more powerful enemy and with an arrogance always associated with the species, sent a fleet away from Earth to hunt down their former invaders and defeat them on their own grounds. The fleet was known as the REF - The Robotech Expeditionary Force and when they left Earth in pursuit, the planet was essentially defenseless when the Invid arrived.
The attack lasted only a few hours. In that time, every Earth city was completely torn to rubble and Earth's population dropped from nearly 7 billion, to a mere 20 million. Power plants, hospitals and schools were all destroyed with equal abandon and the Human race was left reeling.
What follows, is the story of one woman's campaign against a far superior foe, in an attempt to rebuild a civilized world.
