Ten and Forever

Hot summer afternoon. Sweat. Tears. Daddy kissed her and left the room. Ten. Spanked. Bare in her canopied bed. Hands beneath cool sheets slowly soothed her bottom. Sobs subsided. Hands explored. Chest... ribs... belly... thighs... the warmth between. Innocent comfort. Chastened. Forgiven. Peaceful sleep. Still unaware she'd forever come to power.

This is more an exquisite miniature than a mini-saga. The dreamy, drowzy, calm-after-the-storm setting is evoked perfectly. The way the moment is both incidental and life-changing is captured, too. Nicely simple, focused writing.
