I was on the beach the other day and saw a couple of girls about 14 or 15 who were topless playing in the sea. I watched only for a short while and from a distance I was laying in the sun, my children were playing some distance away. Anyway the girls mother suddenly attacked me saying it was illigal for me to look at young girls and she was calling the police. I got my children and moved well along the beach for safety. Could I have been arrested? What should I do?

Hi Anonymous. Gee there are some fucking paranoid people in the world aren't there? I agree with us all looking out for suspicious activity and keeping the kids safe, but there is a point where we go too far right? It sounds to me like this woman is in definite need of a reality check.

And why was she letting 14 and 15 year old daughters swim half nude anyway? If she didn't want guys to look at them then she should have made them wear tops at least.

Don't worry, you were NOT in the wrong and you wouldn't have been arrested anyway. The police wouldn't have had anything to charge you on, and no evidence of a crime to be seen. Beaches are public places and looking at fellow beachgoers, regardless of age, is not a crime.

If anything it would simply have been embarrassing for you to be interviewed by the police if indeed she had called them, but they would undoubtedly have seen the truth pretty quickly.
