I'm 14 years old and I'm interested in guys that are much older then myself. I recently had sex for the first time with a 26 year old man. I know it's not really safe and that there are BIG chances of me getting pregnant.(I think) Is it normal for me to see older men this way?...

Hi Whitney-Marie! Thanks for writing to me. Being attracted to older guys is nothing new for girls your age, lots of girls your age fantasise about older men because they have that mature, father type appeal that gives you a warm, safe feeling as well as arousing you sexually.

Had you not already had sex with an older guy I would be encouraging you not to do it, because I think that at 14 you are still too young to be sexually active. I also think that older men could take advantage of you, and not concern themselves with your safety. Not to mention that this 26 year old guy who had sex with you has broken the law - you are too young to give consent to sex.

However as you have already done it, I must ask, did you enjoy the expeience? Did you do it safely? You are right to say that there is a big chance of getting pregnant, but there is also the chance of contracting a sexually transmitted disease that could kill you, or make you infertile. I can only hope that you used a condom - please tell me you did!

I think that you need to stop and think carefully about what you have done and whether it is really what you want. If you continue with sexual relationships with older men I can only ask that you do it safely, and choose guys that are sypathetic and gentle with you.
