Story Summary

Within a few generations, though, most of the islanders grew complacent. They stopped caring about even the most basic needs of the community and devolved into a selfish hedonism. Darwinism... But when warriors invaded by boat from neighboring islands, they found they had lost all will to fight as a group and succumbed. They were 'Lotus Eaters' and it doomed them.

-Yet, the one tribe with the difficult rite of passage I spoke of was able to repel the invaders and thrived - and they did it in the same environment where all of the others had failed. It was the rites that kept each generation grounded. It kept them respectful of home and tribe and kept them alert to the world around them. He paused while the parents thought deeply on his words.

-This has been much on my mind since we all started congregating here. But, Sally Gibson gave me the missing piece with her studies into the ancient practices of Seminal Worship.
