Spirit of the Wolf

Heathen57

When you are quiet

And nightfall is come

You can hear the Lament

Of the Wolf that is gone.

Their bodies were taken,

By trap and by gun

Too late we realized

The damage we’ve done

For the wolf was of nature

A part of the plan

The balance of nature,

Interrupted by man.

Listen to the cedars

As the wind blows, they sigh

They mourn for the wolf

And yearn for his cry.

But in spirit they are here

Their presence you can feel

Just listen with your heart,

Wild and free they roam still.

May there come a time

Perhaps not long from now

When the prayer of the cedar is answered

Once again the wolf will howl.
