Spirit Dream
Heathen57
Last night as I lay
In the arms of restless slumber,
Among the shifting, flowing forms,
A spirit came calling.
A beautiful maiden
Dressed in white and beads.
Her hair was plated
And shown glowing in the sun.
At her feet sat a wolf
Muzzle gray with age
Her eyes were piercing
Dark and filled with wisdom
The maid never spoke
But her voice filled my being
Flowing about me
Lifting me into it’s embrace.
Tales of the past were told.
Not with words but with scenes.
Showing things how they were
The beauty of untarnished land.
She told of the seasons
Of the birth of the Spring
The cycle of the summer and fall
And of Winter’s blanket of white.
The wolf the arose from where she lay,
She looked upon me and I was locked in her eyes.
I felt her delve into my soul
Stripped naked in that gaze.
The maid said not to fear,
For the wolf is your guide.
She will teach and help you
Always at your side.
Many things she will show you,
Some of joy and of strife
She will lead and instruct you,
As you make the journey of life
I was awakened
With memories of the maid.
Still clear and inside me
The wolf spirit stayed.
I still carry her visions
And her words of wisdom
The spirit is with me
And will stay deep in my heart.
