Hi. My name is Emi Tsuruta. I'm just a girl from Japan. I went to university in California, where I dated a Japanese boy, Ryosuke. He was nice, but he was really into the outdoors. I like the outdoors too - moonlit walks on a beach, swimming in the ocean, the feel of sand between my toes. For Ryosuke, though, it was more than that. He likes to fool around outside. The first time we had sex was outside. I got so freaked out, worried that someone would come along, and find us. Eventually, I kind of got used to it. You do have to be careful not to get caught.

Emi Tsuruta: That's me. I'm a good girl most of the time, raised in the countryside by moral upstanding parents. We moved around when I was young, living in Hawaii and New York because of my dad's job. I came back to Japan for high school, but then set off for California to go to university, and lived in a town called Oceanview on the coast for quite a while. After I graduated, I moved back to Japan, but I miss the States, and would like to go back.

Ryosuke: He was my boyfriend while I was in Oceanview. He's a funny guy, a couple of years older than me. He is a bit of a mixed bag, sometimes pushing me to do crazy things, but other times, quite protective. In my last year of university, we broke up. He keeps saying he's going to come to Tokyo though, so maybe I'll see him again.

Satomi: She was my best friend while I was in Oceanview. We're very different though. She's shyer, and doesn't approve of my antics, but sometimes I talk her into doing stuff with me. She's still in California, so I kind of miss her.

Asuna: I met her around the same time I met Satomi, and the three of us hung around. That's how I met Ryosuke actually because Asuna is his cousin. She is a bit younger and quieter than Satomi and I, but she looks up to me, and is willing to try new things. I sheltered her from some of the wilder things we got into.

Futoshi: I met him through Ryosuke. We weren't originally all that close, but slowly over time, he has turned into one of my closer male friends. He's a good dancer, and had a car. I think Satomi might have had a crush on him at one point. After he graduated, he moved up to Los Angeles, where he works now.

Loretta: She was my host mom when I lived in Oceanview. We got along, and I helped take care of her two kids, Brandon and Jennifer, when she was busy. I never met their father, but Loretta was dating a handsome young construction worker named Hank.

Brandon: Loretta's son. When I first met him, he was a bit of a brat, but he slowly grew up. We used to tease each other a lot. I think he might have had a thing for me.

Jennifer: Loretta's daughter. She was my secret ally in their household, although I don't think she understood why I was running around naked all the time. She's a good kid though.

My Mom: She doesn't work, so she focuses on my sister Norika and me a bit too much. She lived in Hawaii with us when I was little, so you would think she would be more open-minded, but for some reason, she feels she has to protect us.

Norika: My older sister. She was quite wild when she was younger, but now she has a British boyfriend, Evan, and has settled down a lot. They're getting married soon, and have found a new apartment not too far away from my parents' house in Kamakura.

My Dad: He works for a big company up in Tokyo. He's kind of quiet, and not as strict as my mom, but he wants me to be good for my mom's sake.

My mom has a sister named Sachie, who is married to Uncle Yuuzou, and they have 2 kids: a daughter Namie and a young son Hideki. Namie married a guy named Ryoichi. My aunt and uncle live in nearby Fujisawa close to the beach, and Namie and her hubby live further west in Hiratsuka.
