Storm

By

Rosa <subrosae8@juno.com>

He looks out in dread at a lead-grey sky.  Distant thunder. Steps on the stairs. Father in the doorway, his eye's lightning, his voice cracks thunder.

Stripped and tossed across knees, an arm descends and the storm begins.

Later, fading sobs.  The boy twists to assess the damage.

The End

This M/m story was aptly titled Storm.  Although M/m stories aren't my normal favorites, I like the way the author brings the weather elements into the story and assigns them to the character of the father.  You can really feel the thunder of the emotions and the lightning in the angry father's eyes.

Mini-sagas are difficult because of the word limit, but this author manages to convey an entire scene with two words to spare.  A nice job.

I have always understood a perfect parental spanking to be akin to a perfect storm.  This minisaga captures ever-so succinctly the elements of two kindred forces of nature -- the thunderstorm and the spanking -- each producing life-giving precipitation.

I think, however, the last sentence diminishes the picture.

I am impressed that so much can be said in so few words.  Storm's author took me from the peaceful place the boy was, knowing a storm was coming, through steps, swats, and finally damage control.  I think this is an incredible entry and I like it ALOT.
