The Importance of Obeying Your Mother
By

"So, why did you become a ghost, Ma'm?"
"Well, I died in my wedding night, and now I have to roam these ethereal realms until my husband unites with me."
"'s that gonna take long?"
<sigh> "I've been waiting for sixty years now and I hope it will come to an end any time soon. I had imagined he would die of grief, but obviously, he didn't grieve that much..."
"Has he married again, then?"
"Why, you ARE impertinent, young man"
"Sorry... just asking..."
"Actually, yes, he has, but he had a divorce twenty years later." <derisive snort>
Silence.
"So, little boy, what about you? Why did you become a ghost? We hardly ever see children around here."
"Well. Erm. I... errr... I... you know, I was riding my bike?"
"Out with it, young man What happened?"
"I... I didn't put my helmet on." In a whiny voice: "It was so hooot"
"I see. That was a very stupid and naughty thing to do. But why did that make you a ghost?"
"Y'know... I have to stay a spirit until...mumblemumblemumble"
Coolly: "I'm sorry, I don't think I heard you quite clearly."
"Okay, okay I have to stay a spirit until I get the spanking I deserve" In a whisper: "But it was hot, too"
Short pause.
"I see. You are not only a very naughty boy, but you also lack any true remorse about what you've done and about the grief you have caused your family. There is only one remedy to that, and I will make sure you get it. Drop your pants"
"Pleeeaaase... Madam..."
"Now do what I've told you and drop your pants, or it will be the worse for you"
<sniffle> "Good. Now come over my knee. Here you are. Now let's get these underpants down, shall we?"
"Pleeeeeeeze, Madam, not on the bare" <sob>
"You most certainly deserve a thorough spanking on your bare bottom, and you know it Now go ahead and ask me nicely for it."
"<sniff> Madam, please <sob> I've been naughty and I deserve to be punished. <sniff> Please spank me... o-on my bare bottom <SOB>"
"Since you asked me so nicely, that's exactly what I will do, young man.

"There, there, now, darling, it's over. Come into my arms. You got your spanking and you are forgiven. I know you'll be a good little boy from now on."
The boy looked up at the lady, his ghostly face tear stained.
"Thank you, Ma'm", he whispered, before he slowly faded. The lady remained sitting for a long time, staring at her lap.

I liked the premise of the story...but I'm not sure all the parts were there...and the format of the entire story was hard to read...but the idea is clever...and I would have liked to see her get some relief too...for a bit, I thought that somehow that little boy was going to be her husband...you know how time travel is :)

A bit hard to get through but worth the effort (he said he isn't a native speaker so the punctuation was a bit hard follow is what I mean). It is actually a sweet story and I think a happy ending. In a spooky way of course. :)

It seems lessons can be learned here after death. This was not at all scary as it was heartwarming. A tale about repentance and forgiveness. The ghostly characters were all so endearing. The strict woman waiting in earnest to join her husband, teaches this boy a valuable lesson he should have learned in life. A naughty young boy who still fears punishment as he knows it is his only salvation. This is a fine story with deep moralistic overtones.
