Not a jill/jack off story, but ...

This story clearly illustrates the 2nd reason that real (as opposed to consensual) slavery is always evil.   The 1st reason is because of what it does to the slaves. The 2nd reason is because of what it does to the slave owners. and The 3rd reason is because of how it retards technological progress in society as a whole.   . . . . Notice that the Age of Enlightenment began after the Black Death had undermined the basis of the serf system by killing so many of all classes off. As to the owners -- If rich men find it hard to get into heaven (as Jesus said), then how much harder for a man who raped 1 or 2 women every day to get into heaven? I give it 5***** for that.

I hated it-in a backwards kind of way

It took me a few paragraphs (ok, more than I’d like to admit) but this was a very original way to explore a life spiralling out of control.

I just read a new Bradley Stoke’s story over on ASSM. He calls it Reality but really it is about virtual reality.

 
It has some similarities to MMORPGs and some to Stanislaw Lem’s “The Cyberiad” but as always Stoke imbues it with his own particular flavour.

Great story. I think the tone and mood you set in the story was spot on. Without seemingly too much effort you got what it’s like to be awkward and unpopular. The sex scene showed what a first time would be like -- not the day long marathons seen in many stories. Thankfully you kept the ending realistic and plausible.
