"The Masked Man" by Pipedream and Red Rose (1700s romance) 9, 7, 7
"The Masked Man" by Pipedream and Red Rose (redrose@titan.ucs.umass.edu). The second author is really Sarah Fox Jahn, whose "Little Red Riding Hood" and "Steel and Iron" have received high CR ratings. What we have here is a story written in a sort of romantic/Victorian style about a woman meeting a man at an 18th-century masquerade party and then making passionate love with him. I guess if you get really high on this sort of period stuff, this might be a really good story. As it was, I found it to be extremely predictable. Not bad, just predictable. Ratings for "The Masked Man" Athena (technical quality): 9 Venus (plot & character): 7 Celeste (appeal to reviewer): 7 |
