"Lohengrin" by MrSpraycan (opera parody) 10, 6, 9
"Lohengrin" by MrSpraycan (mrspraycan@mailanon.com). Guest review by Fiddler. You can tell that a joke about Wagner is successful if you see Lohengrin. It says something about this Newsgroup that we assume that everybody has seen all those loser TV shows that are parodied, but Celeste has trouble finding someone to review a parody of one of the great works of the Western musical canon. (On the other hand, there is a reason that operas don't provide subtitles.) Anyway, I found a pony in the library (easier than finding a book in a stable) and looked up a summary of the libretto for Lohengrin. This is a parody, and--in places--a funny enough one that I laughed before reading the pony. If you take Wagner terribly seriously you should probably avoid this piece. Otherwise it is great fun. The sex breaks a lot of taboos, but is mostly offstage. This is chuckle fiction rather than stroke fiction. Ratings for "Lohengrin" Athena (technical quality): 10 Venus (plot & character): 6* (Which is more than I would have given Wagner's version) Fiddler (appeal to this reviewer): 9 |
