Contributing to ASSA

When the Asian Sex Stories Archive was up on a bona fide webserver, I used to have an offline zip file of the whole site. Now that everyone has access to the whole site via FTP, I hope that you can enjoy it in its entirety.

Some thing of note: There are many stories here that are part one (of more to come). The problem is that without fans, the authors really have no impetus to continue their stories. If you take the time to e- me, please take some more to e- the author of the story as well. They are what makes this site what it is!

If I don't have an email link to the author, please don't email me, but instead try dejaNews, or Yahoo people search. I am afraid that I don't have the time to maintain the site as often as I did before, however I will pop in every few weeks if you all give me a backlog.....

As a reader (not affiliated with a commercial sex site) feel free to archive these stories for personal use (subject to the author's restrictions).

Author Hints

I am still taking contributions, however, authors, if you already have a directory on ASSTR please just send me a link, as we don't want to fill up El Reyo's hard drive. If you already have a site somewhere else, so much the better; send me a link. I will list you if (a) you are on topic, and (b) you are totally free (no adult verification). Smut wants to be free...!

Please read El Reyo's guidelines about your rights on ASSTR, especially about distribution. If you are an author with a story on this site you retain all rights to your content, and may links to your stories on my page (I also release my rights to the layout and design exclusively to you, the author).

If you would like to contribute a story to the archive please contribute the story in raw text form. Please, no umlaut, tildes, or other characters...

Also, please use the following format:

Don't worry about length or anything else, although if your story is above 500K I'll take zip files (my Mac will open anything).

Additional Things You Might Want to Know

If you enjoy your privacy, I would recommend setting up a pseudonym, as well as an account on a free mail service like Hotmail (http://www.hotmail.com) or Bigfoot (http://www.bigfoot.com). Both of these services (to my knowledge) allow you to forward mail to your main account. That way you have your privacy, and can get feedback from fans.

If the mail gets too hairy, you can always turn off the service.

If you are not an Author....

If an author is very serious about copyright, or states 'No Distribution without permission' please respect the wishes of the story's owner. Their rights come first!

Please do not abuse this policy. As I am doing this for nada I reserve the right to withdraw the offer at any time. If you have been with this site for awhile, you'll know that I have had to make some changes.......

If you are not affiliated with a pay (para) site, please skip the next four paragraphs.....if you are, the next paragraphs in purple are for you:

I have had my fill of smutsites junkmailing and/or writing me. If you are from a pay website I do not want to hear from you unless you allege a copyright violation. You may not access the contents of this site on a commercial basis (read: all individuals are welcome), nor may you link to content on this site. I am very serious about this. I have notices on every page, and will take the time to contact your upstream providers, and shut you down, as any of your peers would do if you (a) harassed them, (b) cheated them, or (c) stole their bandwidth. If you think that this is too aggro a stance to take, think about the terms "Denial of Service" and "theft of bandwidth"... I'll be damned if ASSTR, or any other host goes down (on my watch) because some webslave throws a temper tantrum, or sees my site as 'competition' to be 'dealt with'.

If, on the other hand, you (as a peer) can write to me in a professional way, then yes, I do want to hear from you. If you want to link to this site, you may do so from your free pages only, and ONLY to the index page, as it is the only static page on the site.

If you are a webmaster, and own the copyright to a given work I would like to know about it. However, if you a spammer or shyster out to harass or junkmail harvest my site, know that I will report you to your upstream (and I will encourage other freesite webmasters to do the same). And yes, while I do not have all the time in the world to deal with shysters, I will make time to call postmasters, upstream admins, et cetera. You know the drill.

For the Readers, or why I am so aggro on SmutMonkeys

As you may have guessed, I have had my fill of the dirty underbelly of the 'net. Too many good people are being hurt by scam artists, professional shysters, et cetera. If you see someone stealing material, bandwidth, or someone else's hard work don't tolerate it. If enough people feel this way, then the shysters will crawl under some other rock.

It has come to my attention that a certain webmaster (bozo from a smut paysite) has used frivolous threats to 'enforce copyright' over some of the collections in ASSTR (this site was not included in the 'threat' campaign). To this end, I am no longer accepting contributions from anyone but authors.

There is one exception to this rule: Please feel free to send me either links to other story sites (I'll get their permission to link or follow their terms for linking), or send me DejaNews URLs (many other webmasters, reviewers, and authors are finding this is the safe way to reference potentially copyrighted works from USENET or the web.

Also, if you happen to see any of the content of ASSA on a paysite, I would like to know about it. Let's keep things FREE. And if you want to link to something you may link to my index page, located at:

Read about problems with scams and sex sites at Upside.com (http://www.upside.com/). Search for "Porn"-- in the March 98 issue.....and you may get a slight idea as to why I am so aggro with these parasites of 'net society (heh, I didn't think they could all be bad apples until.....).....

Don't be discouraged if I don't get back to you immediately. I am worse than Ringo Starr at answering my mail. Believe it or not, I do have a life. Maintaining this site while having a real life can be quite a pain, but as long as there are readers and authors, it'll be my pleasure to do so.

I am doing this for free. I would hope that you are getting more than what you pay for. (grin)
