When I was stationed in Okinowa I used to wait at the bus stops in the larger cities. One thing I would do is take a stick of gum out of the wrapper & foil and drop it on the ground where passengers departed the busses. Most of the Okinowan ladies seemed to wear heels and after several had stepped on my gum I would retrieve it when the crowd died down. There were an assortment of swirly marks from the soles and indentations from where a few had got it with their heels. The side on the pavement would have indentations from the texture of the sidewalk. The nice thing about using unchewed gum is I never lost any though on hot days it could be a bit challenging to peel it up :) stu
