Kittens Crushed

Eight of my girlfriends came over last Saturday for a Tupperware party. This wouldn't be too significant except for the fact that this stray cat delivered kittens several weeks before and we've been taking care of her and her litter. By last Saturday, the kittens were old enough to start walking around and playing in the yard.

My party ended and the girls all left about 10:00 p.m. Well, the next day I walked out to get the Sunday paper and was simply shocked. Four of the kittens were smashed to mush on the cement driveway! They apparently had been spooked by all the noise when my girlfriends left, had run out from the bushes next to the drive, and my friends had backed over the poor little creatures with their cars and trucks.

Actually, this didn't upset me since I didn't know what I'd do with the kittens anyway--and....I have to confess to enjoying it when I can drive over little animals--kind of a power kick!
