Federal Way pedestrian dies when hit by several vehicles
by Jack Broom
Seattle Times staff reporter
A pedestrian was killed when he was struck by one car and run over by up to eight more
vehicles on Pacific Highway South in Federal Way yesterday.
A woman believed to have been driving the first car to strike the man was taken into
custody; police said she left the scene of the accident.
Neither the victim's identity nor that of the driver was released early today.
Federal Way police said the man was either walking along the highway or trying to cross it
about 6:30 p.m. when he was hit by a car traveling north in the 30300 block.
Police said there were no witnesses to the initial accident, but that several other
drivers who hit the man stopped and called police.
About 7:45 p.m., 911 operators received a call from a relative of the woman. Police called
back and spoke to the woman, after which she was taken into custody.
