Laurel woman charged in fatal hit-and-run
LAUREL - A Laurel woman has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident after her car struck and killed a pedestrian last month.

An ex-boyfriend turned in Hope L. Gribble, 41, to Anne Arundel County Police, ending a two-week search.

Elaine Woodson, 37, died after being struck by a van while crossing the eastbound lanes of Route 198 east of Old Line Avenue on Feb. 23.

Police said alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Gribble told her ex-boyfriend about the accident four days after it happened. The ex-boyfriend told Gribble to turn herself in and when she didn't, he gave her name to police.

Police would not release the ex-boyfriend's name.

Gribble admitted she was driving the van when Woodson was killed. She was charged Sunday with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and could face one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

The State's Attorney's Office will review the case to determine whether to file other charges.

Gribble was being held on $25,000 bond.
