Heels that Crush Accidentally and Car vs Turtles!

Interesting story about the party! I talked to a friend a few years ago about her shoes and her son, asking her if she'd still wear them around him, she wears spikes and is only 10 lbs lighter than Rosa! She said yes, but that she would be more careful around him!

Well at a party she repeated the exact same thing that Rosa did, an accidental step backwards, but since she was playing a game with the kids there was no way stop her momentum when she felt his foot under her very thin heel tip (1/4"). She figures she put 3/4 of her weight back on the heel before she could pull her shoe up! Miraculously, his foot only swelled up from a broken blood vessel! After a few days, there was only a small bruise and a little cut from the edges of the heel! So that was good news!

Much earlier in her life, around 1981 or so, the same thing happened at a wedding reception, only this time a young girl dancing in stockings was the one stepped on! Normally she would have had spikes on, but her dog had chewed the shoes that matched her dress, so she ended up with a chunkier heel, about 3/4" by 1", a rectangle! Although she was 25 lbs lighter, when she stepped on this girl she did indeed break some bones in her foot, to make matters worse she didn't realize she had stepped on her foot as she made her way to the dancefloor through the table and chairs and that made the mom madder than the broken foot itself since she thought my friend knew what she had done but was ignoring the incident!

So, maybe a thinner heel would have actually done less damage or maybe it's just the luck of the draw, but the only two data points I have make the thinner heel less deadly since it doesn't cover as much surface! Does anyone out there have any experiences they could relate!

Now for my friend's car... she'd run over any toys, bikes, dollhouses, etc, if she could to make it look like an accident, but she would have missed the turtle to be sure unless traffic conditions would make it dangerous! In the mid 80's we were driving down a heavily travled road with a cement truck behind us when a cat strayed into the road. She just said "move, cat" and beeped her horn, but when it moved only a few feet she was forced to run it over or risk having that huge bumper of the truck in our backseat!

However, she loves sinking her heels into floors, and has probably ruined many in her time, and as you noted, the lower heel does more damage!! I could always tell what was on her mind at parties, lower heels meant she felt cocky and would be leaving imprints where she could!

Every woman has her own preferences to what she'd step on and run over, and those differences make for good stories and reading!

Did the little guy get a "full Rosa step" or was she able to pull back some of her weight?? A second girlfriend of mine actually injured her back trying to pull her weight off someone's foot and couldn't wear heel for quite a long time! It's probably best if Rosa ever finds a foot under her heel to just get her balance first, even if it means a few more seconds on someone's foot! Lower back surgery is not pleasant, and she could be in flats for many months!!
