Eventually even he begins to agree that maybe he was a bit of an asshole; but he realizes that if he throws himself at the mercy of the court, he may get off easy . He does, but he doesn't. I can't give you the details. Just remember: "Jesus H Christ, nobody's responsible for promises made in the throes of lust. Nobody believes that stuff."
