It felt good to be out of the chilling rain. It felt good to be surrounded
by her closest friends. And it felt good to be talking about someone
other than Tommy Johnson.

"Gawd, I can't stand that stupid bitch," Carrie ranted between sips of
a double mocha cappuccino. "Where does she buy her clothes?
Goodwill?"

Victoria was right there with the expected follow-up line. "Goodwill
has a better selection than the ugly shit she wears."

Debbie giggled and laughed along with her friends as they took turns
tearing apart their absent mutual enemy Coleen Haskell, though the
choice to attack the girl's apparel made her wonder if her own sense
of style would come under attack by these very same friends if she
weren't around. Unconsciously she played with the drawstrings that
dangled from her blue hoody.

Coleen had done nothing to deserve the ire of Debbie's clique,
aside from having the unfortunate fate of being the new girl in their
class, but that was how things worked. Debbie didn't make the rules
of popularity, though some of her less than cool classmates
wondered if she and her group did. Sometimes she'd hear them
whisper terrible things about her, things that made her feel bad about
the way she and her friends ruled their Junior High School class as if
they were goddesses, but the guilt would pass.

They were just jealous. Jealous of how popular she and her friends
were, jealous of how cool they were, jealous of the way boys and
even men looked at them. She couldn't help it if she was born a
hotty and they weren't. That's just the way life was. You either had it
or you didn't, and Debbie Fergusson most definitely had it.

Her honey blonde hair hung in loose spiral curls down past her
delicate shoulders. Her skin still retained the golden brown hue
gained over a summer of sun worship. She had hazel eyes that
seemed to change color depending on her moods. Today they
sparkled despite the growing darkness outside.

She fitted in perfectly with her clique of friends. Carrie Argento, the
dark haired Italian goddess. Melanie Price, bombshell with her
straight brunette hair and devastating smile. Amber Collins, ever the
perfect picture of adolescent virginity, with her blonde hair, blue
eyes, and alabaster skin. Diane Cho, with her almond shaped eyes
accented by deep brown irises, lithe ballerina figure and a soft voice.
Last but not least, Victoria Brant, her demeanor as sweet as caramel,
which was also the color of her skin.

Being popular had its demands, one of which dictated which boys at
school were worthy of their attention. Not all boys were created
equal, and choosing the wrong one could get you demoted in status.
Debbie thought she'd made the perfect selection when she began
flirting with Tommy Johnson this past summer. He was captain of his
hockey team after all, a boy who could select any girl he wanted, if he
chose to, so he made a perfect pairing for her. Not only was he
athletic, he was good looking to boot. They made a good pairing,
especially in photographs, but best of all, they actually really enjoyed
being together.

Being together means different things to different people. For
Tommy and Debbie that mostly meant walking together at school,
talking on the phone, and going to the movies with all their friends.
They'd never been out on a real date, just the two of them, but she
was okay with that, at least for now. He was shy, he'd ask her out
when he was ready, there was nothing wrong with that... was there?
Heck, they hadn't even really kissed yet. Sure, they'd shared a quick
smooch here and there, sometimes between classes, sometimes
when they parted after school, but nothing like what she'd seen
boyfriends and girlfriends doing in the hallways of school.

Truth was, she wasn't sure if she were ready to go any further with
Tommy, so she didn't push him. Her friends seemed to have their
own ideas of what should be happening between them, especially
Melanie, who'd drilled her on a daily basis for details of each of their
brief encounters. Of all her friends, Melanie was the only one (that
she knew of) that had been felt up by a boy. Of course, she could
have been lying. The boy in question didn't go to their school, and
they had never met him, but Melanie did have a picture of the two of
them from summer camp that she kept by her bedside.

Amber's face went serious. "Oh man, you won't believe who's about
to walk by."

The group began to turn towards the coffee shop's front window.

"No! Don't look, they might see you."

"Who is it?" Diane asked in a hushed tone.

"Oh shit, too late."

The tiny brass bell over the door rang loudly forcing them to look
despite Amber's plead not to.

"Hello ladies! My friend needs something hot and sweet... oh, hello
Debbie!"

Debbie's heart dropped as the two boys entered. The one with the
shit eating grin, the one who'd spoken, was Justin Cooper. Justin
was one of those heavy metal losers with long hair who only seemed
to own rock T-shirts and denim jeans with holes worn in them.
Normally no one would have paid him any mind, his kind usually stuck
together in their own circle of losers, but Justin was different. Justin
was Tommy Johnson's best friend, and today, as always, the two of
them were inseparable.

"What are they doing here?" Victoria hissed.

Debbie's eyes fixed on Tommy, who seemed to be caught
somewhere between wanting to run away and hide, and running over
to give her a hug. Despite how her friends felt about him, she still
had feelings for Tom, and part of her wished that he would run over
and hug her. Things were going great between them, and then he
had to go and ruin it all at the hockey game yesterday.

As the two boys walked toward the counter Tom gave an apologetic
smile and nodded to her. "Hey."

That simple 'hey' dripped with sadness, and for a moment she
almost forgot why she was mad at him in the first place, but then it all
came rushing back in vivid detail.

She'd gone to watch him play, a first for her. She knew next to
nothing about hockey, but he was so passionate about the game she
just had to see for herself. She was bored at first, watching both
teams skate back and forth across the ice chasing a little black puck,
but then Tommy started scoring goals, and the crowd began
cheering, and she found herself cheering along with them. He was
amazing. He seemed to be able to do anything he set his mind to do
out there on the ice, and her heart fluttered every time he flashed his
smile in her direction. All seemed to be so perfect, so right. She
was with him, and he was with her, the future prom King and Queen
of Highland Township High School. She decided right then and
there that he would be the one... he would be the one to take her
virginity.

Then, in the blink of an eye, that dream died.

Debbie scowled at him, ignoring his hangdog face, and turned her
back to him. Her friends did the same.

"Can you believe the nerve of that psycho?" Carrie murmured.
"Coming in here after what he's put you through."

Dianne piped in, "I can't believe he even showed his face at school
today."

"Shouldn't he be in jail?" Amber shook her head. "I can't believe they
let lunatics like him walk free."

"Should we go?" Victoria asked Deb.

Deb's heart was torn. She'd really started to feel something for
Tommy, she still felt it, but she'd also seen what he was capable of,
and that scared her.

'So much blood,' she thought to herself. 'So much blood... and so
many screams... Why Tommy? Why'd you do it?'

"Well, should we?" Victoria repeated.

"No." Deb spoke firmly. "We were here first, he can leave."

A cold chill ran up her spine.

"He's coming over here." Carrie spoke through clenched teeth.

Deb's friends all turned around to face the boy she thought she
loved, but she couldn't bring herself to do so. She wasn't ready to
speak to him. Maybe one day she could forgive him, but not today,
not when the memory of what he'd done was so painfully vivid.

She could hear her friends moving to block his path, forming a
protective wall around her.

"She doesn't want to talk to you," Melanie barked.

Her order went ignored, she knew because she could feel him, feel
him standing right behind her, close... too close.

"Debbie, we need to talk."

Debbie took a deep breath before angrily turning around. "I have
nothing to say to you, Tommy Johnson."

She wasn't prepared for just how close he was. They were standing
nearly nose to nose. Tommy gazed deeply into her eyes, as if he
were looking somewhere deep inside of her.

"That's fine, but I have something that I need to tell you."

The sound of his voice frightened her. He sounded so grown up, so
confident... not the shy, silent boy that she thought was cute, but
someone else. His eyes burned into her, making her feel as if she
weren't wearing any clothes. A sly smile played over his lips, as if he
knew some dark secret about her. Unconsciously she took a small
step backwards.

"I... I don't care what you have to say. How could you, Tommy? How
could you do that to those people?"

"They got what they deserved." His smile grew, creeping her out
even more as he moved to fill the space she had just vacated. "They
tried to stop me, stop me from doing something that I wanted to...
do."

Debbie's blood ran cold as her thoughts raced. 'My God! He wants
to rape me!' She took a big step backwards.

"Get away from me, you psycho!"

"Not until you give me what I want." He slowly moved closer to her,
like a cat stalking a mouse. "You aren't afraid, are you?"

Suddenly hands grasped Tommy's shoulders, trying in vain to pull
him away from Debbie.

"Get away from her, you asshole!" It was Amber who spoke, but all
of Deb's friends had at least one hand on him, tugging and struggling
to move him.

Tom grinned at them, his white teeth gleaming. "Don't worry, girls,
there's plenty of me to go around." His eyes turned back to Debbie
who had retreated until her back was against the wall.

"But first..." he violently shrugged them all off, "the two of us need to
get something out of the way."

Debbie trembled as Tom closed the gap, she had nowhere to run.
"Fff... fuck you."

"Maybe later." He crushed his body against her, pinning her to the
wall. "Right now I just want a kiss. One kiss, then I'll go away."

Debbie shuddered. He pressed into her, his crotch grinding into her
pelvis, his hands flat against the wall behind her, his arms blocking
any chance of escape. Two days ago, if this same boy had asked
for a kiss, she would have given him one willingly, but today? Today
was a different story. She had seen a side of Tommy Johnson
during that hockey game that gave her nightmares; seen this boy
from her class turn faces into gurgling fountains of blood with his
bare hands. It sickened her, turned her stomach inside out and
upside down. She never wanted to see him again.

"You can do that, right?" he whispered. "Just a little kiss, that's all,
and I'll be on my way."

Now he was against her, trapping her, leaning over her shoulder, his
hot breath beating against her neck, rubbing what could only be his
hard prick into her groin.

'Just a kiss,' she tried to reason with herself, 'all he wants is just one
little kiss, and then he'll go away.'

"You... you promise. Just a kiss?" she stuttered. "Then you'll go?"

"Cross my heart," he answered directly into her ear. "One... little...
kissss..."

Her heart was racing, thumping within her ribs with an intensity she
had never known before. She was afraid, but it was an odd kind of
fear, different than being frightened of the dark or of the boogey
man. This was more like riding a roller coaster just as you reach the
top of the first hill and the cars ahead of you start to drop away from
sight.

"Okay. I'll... I'll kiss you."

"I knew you would," he replied as his face moved to fill her line of
sight. "You want this as much as I want you."

She didn't get a chance to refute him. His lips crushed against her
own, silencing any complaints other than her initial shock.
"Hrrummphhh!"

It all happened so fast, too fast for her to process, too fast for her
to stop him if she had wanted to. His tongue penetrated her lips,
forcing its way inside to wrestle with hers. That's how she chose to
fight him at first. Her body had gone numb, weak all over, except for
her pink tongue. A fierce battle waged inside of her mouth, both
sides struggling for dominance, and she was losing.

He pressed his body harder into her, flattening her breasts with his
broad chest. She could feel his heart beating in time with her own,
racing at the same pace. Her breathing became ragged and short,
her nostrils flaring with the effort of sucking in fresh air. A heat began
to rise up from within, a burning fire that brought a flush to her
cheeks.

She recognized the signs of what was happening to her body, and it
horrified her.

'No, I can't! Not like this! Not in front of everyone!' The familiar
fluttering sensations had started in her lower abdomen despite her
pleas to her own body not to feel this way.

Her arms found strength and she used them to club at Tommy's
sides, trying to beat him off her. He was too quick and strong. His
hands captured her tiny wrists and pulled them up over her head,
pinning them high on the wall behind her.  There was no escape now;
he had her where he wanted her.

The strange thing was, she was finding herself enjoying the
surrender, of losing control, giving up and letting him take what he so
desperately wanted from her. She found herself moaning into his
mouth, her tongue no longer fighting but dancing. Her hips rocked
from side to side, his hardness grinding into her sex through denim
and cotton. The fire grew to new heights.

Give in...

The voice spoke softly in her head.

Let go...

She couldn't tell if it was her own voice or Tommy speaking, but she
didn't care.

Be mine...

Her body shook inside as the fluttering grew in time with the flames
licking her flesh. Her right leg rose up, bent at the knee, and locked
behind Tommy, holding him closer, forcing his cock to grind painfully
against her pussy.

Be mine...

'Yes,' she spoke in her mind.

Be mine...

'Yes!' she called into the roaring pyre.

Be mine... forever...

'YES!' Her body tingled with sensations, electricity heightening her
pleasure.

I can give you such pleasures you have never known...

"Hmmmm," she whimpered into Tommy as her body twitched and
jerked against him.

All of your world's delights will be yours...

"Hmmmmm!" Tears of frustration rolled down her cheeks. She was
so close, so damn close.

Give yourself to me... sacrifice your body to my will... and
they will be yours for the taking...

"Yes..." she mumbled into Tommy's mouth, causing her lips to
vibrate against his teeth.

Open yourself... Let me in... I am your one true God... Let me
in... Open yourself... Say the word... Speak the key... Unlock
the door that separates us... Join me... Join us...

She could hold back no longer. A flood of pure bliss radiated out
from her center and spread over her entire body. Her lips pulled free
from Tommy as her head flung back and her unblinking eyes glazed
over. Her mouth opened in a primal scream of pure ecstasy.

"YEEESSSSSS!"

Tommy stepped away, leaving her convulsing body to slowly slide
down the wall until she lay in a crumpled heap on the floor. He turned
away from her and met the stunned expressions etched on the faces
of everyone else inside the coffee shop. Justin still stood at the
counter, his cappuccino surrounded by a dozen or so empty packets
of sugar, his mouth hanging open in shock.

"Come on," said Tom softly to Justin, "we're done here."

Without another word he made his way to the door and exited.

Justin, still frozen in place, looked over to Debbie who was sobbing
on the floor, babbling, "He... He left... Why did he leave? I would
have given him everything! Why? Why did he leave me?"

Her friends rushed to her side, helping her to stand on wobbly legs.
Victoria looked to Justin, hoping for some answers, but all he did
was shrug and shake his head before picking up his drink and
leaving the shop.

Debbie sobbed quietly as her friends wiped away her tears and
hugged her tightly.

"Forever... I'm yours forever..."

"Debbie... Debbie!" Victoria shook her. "Get a hold of yourself!"

The world around her was spinning. She could hear and see her
friends, but it all seemed like it was happening in a dream.

"I need... I need to go to him!" She heard her words, but couldn't
understand why they were coming out of her lips. "Please... please
let me go to him!"

"Debbie, you've got to snap out of it." Amber had put her hands on
either side of Deb's face and was staring into her unfocused eyes. "I
don't know what the fuck just happened, but we need to tell the
police."

"Yeah, that's for damn sure." Carrie pulled out her cell phone and
began dialing.

"NO!" Deb leapt to her feet and slapped the phone out of her hand.

"What the fuck, Deb?" Carrie shouted. "You better not of broke that."

"No police!" Deb stood on legs that could give out at any moment as
her body swayed from side to side like tall grass in a breeze. "I... I'm
okay."

"Like hell you are." Melanie caught her just before she fell back to the
floor. "You're all fucked up. I bet that asshole slipped you a roofie.
We need to get you to a doctor."

Deb's eyes rolled around in their sockets wildly. "NO! No doctors,
no police... no one... I don't need anyone... anyone except for HIM!"

"She's gone off the fuckin' deep end." Carrie had retrieved her cell
phone and was examining it for damage. "Bitch has lost her damn
mind."

"Shut up Carrie." Diane felt Deb's forehead. "She's burning up. I
think she's sick."

"Sick in the fuckin' head."

"Knock it off, Car, she didn't mean to break your stupid phone."

"The fuck she didn't! Look at it, the screen's all scratched up."

Victoria pushed past Carrie to help with Debbie. "I think we have
more important things to worry about than your phone."

Carrie narrowed her eyes. "I doubt you'd be so helpful if it'd been
your cell."

"Is she okay?" The coffee barista looked concerned. "Should I call
911?"

"No," the girls answered as one.

"Alright, but... I can't have her lying on the floor like that."

"Damn it," Amber grumbled. "Help me get her onto a chair."

Debbie didn't weigh much, but she'd gone limp. The girls struggled
but eventually managed to get her propped up.

"Now what?" Carrie asked.

"Oh, going to help us now?" Dianne smirked. "Sure you're not too
broken up over the loss of your phone?"

"Ha-ha. Seriously, what are we going to do with her?"

"I don't know." Amber pulled a chair over to where she was holding
Deb upright and took a seat. "You don't live far from here; can we
bring her to your house?"

"You're joking, right?" Melanie chuckled. "After what happened the
last time I had you all over?"

"Oh, Jesus Christ, Mel, that was over the summer, and we all
apologized to both you and your parents."

"Yeah well, I may have forgiven you for inviting all those people to my
house for a party, but my parents haven't."

The girls fell silent for a moment, all except for Deb whose breathing
became labored.

"We need to get her home." Victoria spoke flatly. "Call him."

Amber shook her head. "No."

"Call him."

"I said no, I'm not going to. Eric creeps me out."

"Just do it, Amber." Carrie rolled her eyes. "He's got a crush on you.
He'll do anything you ask."

"Damn it," Amber pouted. "I hate you guys."

Eric was a geek, but he was also seventeen, and he owned a car.
The girls had used him as a taxi service on many occasions, but only
when they had no other options. Reluctantly she pulled her cell
phone from her purse and dialed the number.

"Hi, Eric." Her voice was filled with sunshine but her face displayed a
thunderstorm. "I was wondering if you would mind giving my friends
and I a lift?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Deb floated in and out of consciousness for the duration of the car
ride. She couldn't grasp why she was lying across her friend's laps,
nor why they all seemed to be so concerned about her, but she was
sure that they were all piled into Eric Poole's pride and joy. She
knew whose car she was in due to the lingering smell left behind by a
multitude of fast food lunches. The piquant aroma seemed
particularly strong today, strong enough to make her belly do
summersaults, and the steamy heat wasn't helping either.

Time seemed almost meaningless as she drifted between fever
dreams and reality. Snippets of conversation darted in and out of
her ears like a pesky gnat.

"What are we going to tell her parents?"

"The truth, that she's sick."

"They're gonna think she's high on something."

"Well, we'll just have to convince them she's not."

"What if she is? What if Tommy slipped her something? You saw
how she was acting."

"Doesn't matter, just stick to the story. She wasn't feeling well, she
got into a fight with Tommy, and then she passed out."

"I don't feel right about doing this."

"You'd rather we get in trouble for something we didn't do? Or go
along with Carrie's plan to just dump her on her parent's front step
and run?"

"No."

"Then shut up and help me carry her."

Hands grasped. Weightless... floating... cold drops of water fell on
her face as wind lifted her hair. The sudden change from hot and
humid to chilling air and spattering rain brought her around. Her
senses returned. Her eyes fluttered open, but all she could see was
a vast expanse of silvery grey. She struggled to be free of the many
hands holding her.

"Put me down!"

"Calm down, Deb." Amber's face leant into her line of sight, blotting
out the grey abyss. "We're trying to get you home."

"I don't want to go home, I want to find him."

"Look, we're at your door."

It was an effort, but Deb managed to lift her head. She stared
blankly down the length of her body being held aloft by her friends,
looked past the tips of her trendy Ugg boots, and after a moment the
door leading into her home materialized.

"Put me down."

"You sure? You don't look..."

"Just put me down, I'll manage."

She was lowered clumsily. Her footing was unsteady, but her friends
were there to catch her as she teetered.

"Do you have your key?" Amber asked.

"My what?"

Before Amber can ask again the door opened. Debbie's mother
raced out into the rain to take over the responsibility of steadying her
daughter. "Oh my god! What's happened? Are you alright?"

Debbie couldn't answer. Her vision was once again blurring, her
balance slipping away.

"George! George, get out here now! Something's wrong with
Debbie!"

Darkness enveloped Deb as her Mom's cries for help grow more
and more distant until she was alone in perfect silence.
