Introduction: Life in Caledonia, Part 0.1: Prologue This story is entirely fictitious and intended for the consumption of adults only. (NOTE: This intro is pure exposition and setup. Nothing to code yet. The sexy stuff starts in Chapter One) ----------- The Commonwealth of Caledonia is a proud and prosperous nation. With 40 million inhabitants spread over three large islands in the Atlantic, it is rich in its natural beauty, its art, its resources, and its diverse people. There are great cities, rolling countryside, beautiful beaches and lush forests. It hasn't quite fallen on hard times like many other countries, but Caledonians are getting increasingly sick of stagnation and corruption, so they voted for change. Big change. The Turquoise Bloc Party formed the government for the first time in the nation's history. They were traditionally seen as a party of kooks and oddballs, but with corruption and stagnation enveloping the political establishment, it was time for a change. And they were making big changes. After some humdrum economic stuff, the new government passed a law called the Public Affairs Act. It was an law with a boring, ambiguous name that would put in place the most radical social experiment the world has ever seen. The Turquoise Bloc was going to strip all of Caledonia. Pamphlets were sent round to every household in the country to explain what the new laws would mean. The "Nudist Nation" pamphlet, each with a smiling, naked family on the front, detailed the laws in full. It explained that the government thought that outdated and misguided mores of modesty were holding the country back, the "New Openness" would increase improve people's physical and mental health. The important bit was on the first page. From June 1st, the pamphlet explained, the wearing of clothing was illegal at all times and in all places in Caledonia. The manufacturing and purchasing of clothing was illegal; any new clothing imports were to be considered contraband. Nudity was now compulsory. There were some exceptions, but those were few and far between. The reaction to this was first shock. There was denial from certain quarters. There were protests against this draconian law. But the government stood firm, and promised that the new nudity laws would be strictly enforced by the police, and that people trying to get around the Nudist Nation would be harshly punished. So, Caledonians did what they do best: they shrugged and got on with it. Not a lot of people were quite prepared for it, but as Thursday the 1st June (N-Day, as it was now being called) approached, the nation prepared to bare all. In Edenhurst, the largest city in Caledonia, five friends gathered in a bar in the city centre called the Coach and Horses. Every Thursday they would meet up, drink and talk about anything. They all lived busy lives but this was a fixture for them, something that they'd done together since college. It was the 25th of May, a week before N-Day. They chatted nervously about the approaching forced nudity, nervously fiddling with the clothes that they knew they would miss. They tried to laugh it off, both excited and scared at the big changes that were approaching. But they all agreed that even their forced nudity wasn't going to stop them getting together. As they settled their tab, they agreed that they would all seeing a lot more of each other next Thursday.
