                        Chapter 004

A few days passed and I was still in Arizona living with
Laura's daddy, and little brother. (Ralf & Joey) Meanwhile
back in Florida, Mommy and daddy and Aunt Kathy were being
held in jail. Teala was at home by herself. Tammy was away at
college in north Florida. Amy was in Montana and had no idea
what was going on until a couple days later when she called
home and Teala answered the phone. Laura's mom got back into
town and later visited Mom and dad and told them that I was ok
and far away. She also told Teala the same which also got to
Amy later on via phone. About a week later Grandpa came down
to pay bail money for Mom, dad, and Aunt Kathy. They were not
to leave town at all. SO by the middle of the first week
school was in session.

Mommy, daddy, and Aunt Kathy and Teala were at home, and Tammy
and Amy were at college and they were all in the loop. Mom and
dad knew where I was but could not call me or even take down
the number for fear of the police finding it. They were still
being questioned as to where I was. Nobody even suspected
Laura's mom since even her own daughter and neighbors thought
she was on a business trip. She even had one of the managers
cover for her too! Even though Tammy was in college the police
talked to her and she said that she brought me home and parked
the fan and then ditched town to go to college since she had
to be there anyway. They didn't arrest her since she did not
assault an officer or resist arrest like my parents did. The
law had turned it over to the social workers to try and find
me. I had already missed a week of school.

What was really crazy is some news stories were saying that I
had been murdered and that's why no one could spot me
anywhere. Luckily the story wasn't big enough to reach to the
other coast. Meanwhile I was still in Arizona and had no idea
about the rest of the family's status. Then one night the
phone rang and it was Laura's mom. She was on a payphone
outside of a restaurant. She conveyed the information to Ralf
and asked about me so she could update my family. I could tell
it was her because of his side of the conversation. After he
hung up I was eager to hear any news.

"So what's going on? How's my family?" "Your grandfather
bailed them out, and they are all home and awaiting there
court dates. The police questioned everyone and they never
suspected my ex wife of anything. The police have turned the
case over to the social workers. I'm glad they are out of
jail. But what does that mean for me now, can I go home?"
"Nope not yet. Your parents trials will be coming up within a
couple weeks. The social workers will never let it rest. The
day you show up in Florida before you're 18, they'll take you
away from your parents and put you with a foster family." I
started to cry when I realized this. "So what are we going to
do?" I asked. "Well, you have a couple of choices. I can
enroll you in school here for a while under a fake name, or
you can skip school but you'll be a year behind when you
finally do start again." He said. "I wanna go home!" I said.
"Now listen. After your family is done dealing with the law
now in a few months or so, your parents can come out here and
get you and you all can move to any other state accept
Florida. Then you can go to school under your real name again.
You'll see your family again, just not in Florida."

I just ran into the bedroom and slammed the door and cried
into my pillow. I didn't want to leave Florida! My family,
friends, church, school, the band. My whole life was there!
Why should I have to be on the run for the next 6 years! I
cried for a while. Then I came back out and stood in front of
Ralf. "I'm going to turn myself in. I am going to prove that
my parent's are not bad people and the social workers will
have no reason to take me away! They never hurt me. So there's
no reason I can't go back!" I said. "Honey, b y the time they
do realize that you'll probably be 18 honey. Now sit down and
think bout what you're doing before you do it." Ralf said. He
was right. I couldn't just act on an emotional outburst. Too
many people had gone to far to give me a chance.

Ralf was right, in a few months I would be able to see my
parents again. I could just go to school under a fake name for
one year. I went to be dearly that night. I prayed a lot, and
cried even more it seemed. I asked God to give me a direction.
My mind kept coming back to the scriptures about not hiding
and running from your sins and facing up to things and about
honesty. Using fake names and tricking the law wasn't honest.
I prayed again before falling asleep. "Lord, if you want me to
follow your word and be an honest person, and not to run
anymore, please give me the strength to do it. And be with the
social workers and help them to see how much I love my family
and that they don't hurt me. In Jesus' name. Amen." I laid
there for a while. I felt like the weight was lifted from my
shoulders. I soon fell fast asleep.

The next morning I woke up early and packed my stuff. I
changed my diaper and dressed myself. I sat in the living room
for a while. Ralf woke an hour or so later and came out to get
the paper. "What in the world you doing up so early?" He
asked. "I want you to take me to the bus station. I'm going to
take a one way ticket back home. I'm not going to run from
this. I have faith in God, and I trust him to make this work
out in the end." I said plainly. "Well dang girl you have more
faith then I'll ever have. But if that's what you really want,
I'll take you in and get you a ticket." "I have money." I
said. "Well ok then. Are you sure you'll be ok traveling by
yourself all that way?" He asked. "I've been on a bus before.
I'll be ok." I said. A while later Joey was up and we had
breakfast. We stopped by Mrs. Holland's place on the way into
town and I thanked her for taking care of me. I hugged Cindy
too and thanked her. Then I went over and hugged Loren. I
handed her a piece of paper with my parents address and phone
number and my e-mail address. "Keep in touch. You've been a
good friend to me. Thank you." I said as I hugged her.

I thanked Ralf again for letting me stay and gave him $100 I
said good bye to him and Joey and got a ticket and they stood
there waiting until my bus left. I sat on the Greyhound bus
waving out the window to Joey and Ralf. We had a long trip
ahead of us. There would be a few meal stops and also regular
bus stops. All I had to do was stay on the bus until it got to
Orlando. Ralf said he'd call his ex wife and have her pick me
up at the bus stop early in the morning in a couple days.

I laid down since I had a seat to myself. I had to change my
dirty diapers twice on the trip. I was glad I brought a bunch
of wipes. It was hard standing up in the bathroom and going it
while the bus was moving. For all that effort I might as well
have gone on the potty. But, I didn't really want to. I needed
the babyish feelings of diapers and losing control in them. I
had a tough road ahead of me. I was scared, and yet calm at
the same time. It seemed like forever but finally we pulled
into the Orlando stop. I had made it.

Laura and her mommy were there. She had woke her daughter up
early to come with her. She was then going to drop me off at
my house! When we pulled into the driveway I was so excited. I
ran up and opened the door and ran into the house! "MOMMY!
DADDY!" I yelled. They both ran into the living room and held
onto me. "OH honey!" mommy cried. "We missed you so much."
Daddy said. We were all crying. I missed you a lot! But I made
a friend out in Arizona and it was ok. But I prayed for you
every day though." I said. "Honey, you were really brave to
take the bus by yourself and to come home even though the
social workers are still going to try to take you. We will
fight them." Mommy said. "No, don't fight them. I don't' want
you to get into any more trouble. We shouldn't have tried to
run in the first place. God told me he wants me to be an
honest person and someone who doesn't run. Even though wee
were right and the lady and the guard at the store were wrong,
if we had stayed and faced them, it wouldn't have been this
bad." I said. Mommy and daddy held me. "You're right. We
thought about that too. I'm so sorry we made things worse by
running." Dad said. "It's ok. We just got scared that's all.
We will learn from all this." I said. Aunt Kathy came in.
"Tiffany!" she said as she ran over and hugged me.

I got to talk to Tammy, and Amy on the phone that night. Emily
and Laura came over too. I stayed up until 10. Luckily the
weekend was here. So I would have a couple days to play before
going back to school. I knew once I went to school word would
get out and they would come and take me away. It wasn't a
question of if, but when. But I put that out of my mind and
played in Emily's garage. Robert and I held each other and
kissed again that night while in Emily's garage. That night I
went home and slept in mommy and daddy's bed with them. Mommy
breast fed me before bed. "Now you remember that we can't tell
them about mommy breast feeding you. I don't know what they'd
do if they found that out." Mommy said. "Don't worry, I won't
That is none of there business anyway. I said as I laid back
down next to mommy. The next morning I had breakfast and gave
mom and dad a hug and a kiss.

I rode the bus with Emily and Laura. Everyone was really
surprised to see me. They had all kinds of questions. I didn't
tell them much though. As soon as I showed up in the front
office they all gave me hugs. While I was getting changed by
Miss Megan the principal stood outside. When I came out I had
to go to his office. I sat there a while. He then came back in
with a social worker. "Hi there Tiffany. I'm Mrs. Cortez. I am
a county social worker." She said. "I know. You are here to
take me away from my family right?" I said with a frown on my
face. "Well not exactly. But I do want to talk to you about
some things." She said as she sat down at his desk. "So
you've had quite a busy couple of weeks. Everyone's been
looking for you. You seem to be a better escape artist then
Houdini!" she said while smiling. "Yeah, I have my ways." I
said with a smile.

"Ok well you seem like a smart girl. So let's get down to
business. I am here to talk to you about what goes on in your
home. With your family, and so on. Can you run me through a
typical day in your home life?" Mrs. Cortez asked. "Well
getting down to business, I think what you rally want to know
is what's up with the diapers, and my mom treating me like a
baby. Isn't that right?" I said. She sat back in the chair.
"Well since you put it that way, yes." "I am a psychological
infantilist. I like being a baby. I didn't get enough the
first time around. I don't' really blame my mother for that. A
lot of people who had good childhoods still enjoy regression."
I said. "Wow such big words." She said. "Anyway, I chose to be
a baby, and my mother and father allow me to. If anything they
should get a reward for being an extraordinary parent going
above and beyond the duty of most parents."

"I love my family, and they love me. The reason they would
fight and run from the law is only to protect me. The guy at
the store was a jerk. He rough handled my mommy. My dad stood
up for our family. And about the spanking, she never leaves
marks, and she hardly ever spanks me. Plus with a diaper on I
never feel it anyway. Who are you people to tell my family how
to work. There are plenty of kids that wind up dead on your
watch. You wanna know why? It's because you spend to much of
your time nit-picking around with happy healthy families and
you don't see the ones that really need help." I said. "Wow so
your mother had you memorize that whole speech. Very good for
you." "Look lady, it's not a speech. So what do you really
want. What could you possibly gain by taking me from my
family?" I said. We sat there in silence. "I will be right
back I need to make a phone call." She said as she left.

A few minutes later she came back. "Well Tiffany, from
interviewing people at school, and your friends, and your
therapist, everything checks out ok. I have to say I don't
like the way your family does things, like letting you wear
diapers, running from the law. But you're right, there are
worse cases out there. Thanks for seeing me. You take care,
and try to keep your parents out of trouble will ya?" she said
as we both laughed. I then went to class. My teacher welcomed
me back. The next few days I had a lot of make up work, but my
absences were excused given the circumstances.

That night when I got home I told my parents what happened. We
all thanked God for his awesome power in making things work
out ok. That night I again slept with Mommy and Daddy. My head
was still spinning from the last two weeks so much that I
didn't really feel quite at home yet. With Amy and Tammy gone
to college, things had changed at home. Then with recent
events of the past couple weeks, that was enough adventure for
anyone, not much less a 12 year old diaper baby!
