Chapter 055
I woke up late the next morning. As I rolled over onto my back
and stretched, my attention turned to my soggy diaper. "Wow
this thing is totally swelled up like a balloon." I thought to
myself as I sat up. I felt the nice squishy full feeling of a
totally soaked and comfortably warm diaper surrounding me. It
felt like every square inch of the diaper was soaked. "Tammy!"
I called. A moment later she came in. "Oh I see someone
finally decided to get up." "Yep. I stayed up late with daddy
last night." "Yes, I know. Mom told me." "I wet Tam Tam." "Aww
ok let's get you changed then." She said as she helped me
climb over the edge of my crib.
As usual, I laid on the changing mat on the floor and got
wiped, powdered and diapered. Then I walked over to my closet
to pick out an outfit while Tammy went to wash her hands. She
came back and helped me get dressed. "You put your arms in the
top like this." She said as I fumbled around trying to dress
myself like a big girl. "No silly, not that way, it's
backwards." She said as she helped me turn my shirt around the
right way. I was just being a silly baby.
Since I had woke up late, no one else was at the kitchen
table. Tammy warmed me up some breakfast that they'd had
earlier. It was yummy. "Mom and dad went shopping." Tammy said
as she sat at the table with me while I ate." "Where Teala?" I
asked. "Hmm, I thought she was in the living room earlier
watching TV. Teala?" Tammy called. "Teala!" she called again.
"Maybe she went into the tree house or is playing in the back
yard." I said as I shoveled a big spoonful of grits in my
mouth. "I'll go find her real quick. Its not like her to
wander off like this. I'll be right back." Tammy said as she
got up from the table and headed out towards the backyard.
As I finished my orange juice in my sippy cup I heard Tammy
yelling from the back door. "Tiffany! Call 911! Hurry!" "I
can't! I'm stuck in my highchair!" I said as I started to cry.
I was wondering what happened to Teala!. Then I realized there
was a latch under the tray and I reached around and got it. I
pushed the tray off onto the table and slipped out of the
chair and ran over to the counter with the phone. I dialed
911. My heart was pounding.
"911 Emergency, how can I help you?" "We need an ambulance at
our house. Something is wrong with my sister." I said trying
not to cry to much. "Ok where is your sister now honey?" "In
the back yard with Tammy, my other sister." "Ok, do you know
what is wrong with your sister?" "No!" I said as I started to
cry. "Just hurry up and come here. I started to cry. I gave
out my address and then hung up. I ran to the back door.
"What's wrong with her?" I asked as I knelt down to her. "Back
up Tiffany." Tammy said. "What's wrong?" "I think she's having
a seizure." "That not good." I said. I knelt down there on the
grass and prayed harder than I ever prayed. "Please God help
Teala be ok please!" I cried over and over. "Tiffany, go out
in the front yard and show them how to come in the back yard
here ok?" she said. I ran out and opened he gate to the back
yard. Luckily she didn't have her seizure next to the pool.
She was just outside of the screen door area. She must have
been on her way back in the house when it happened. I saw the
ambulance coming and I waved at them. They pulled into the
yard. I lead them back to where Tammy was with Teala. They
moved in and began to do there work. Tammy held me as we stood
back. We were both crying at this point.
Just then mom and dad got home. "What is going on!" mom yelled
as she came running towards us. A few minutes went by and
Teala was sitting up now. She seemed to be ok, except that she
was crying. The paramedic talked with mom and dad for a few
minutes. Teala was ok now and sitting with Tammy and me. "I
glad you ok now. We were so scared." I said. "I sowwy." Teala
said. "Oh don't be sorry, it's not your fault honey." Tammy
said. We both cuddled with her and hugged her. "Tammy?" "Yes
Teala?" "I got a messy diaper." She said as she blushed a bit.
"Aww, ok let's go change you." Tammy said as she helped Teala
up and walked with her arm around her as she helped her into
the house. She seemed a bit stunned still. I just sat there
thanking God she was ok now.
The ambulance left and mom and dad came over to me. "Where's
Teala?" mom asked. "Tammy went to change her messy diaper."
"Are you ok sweetie?" dad asked. "Yeah I was just scared
though because I didn't know what was happening." I said as I
stood up and walked in the house with mommy and daddy.
Mom cleaned up the mess on the kitchen table from where I had
pushed my tray off the highchair onto the table. I went into
my room. Teala was laying in her crib. Tammy sat next to her
reading to her. She was clutching her big pink bunny I gave
her. She was so cute. I sat in Tammy's lap while she continued
to read to both of us. Mom peaked her head in the doorway for
a moment and smiled as she looked at us. Dad came up behind
her and looked over her shoulder. "Aww, our kids are so
sweet." He said. "Yes they are." Mom said. They turned and
left the doorway just as my attention turned to them. I then
glanced back down at the pages of the book. "No pictures on
this page Tam Tam." I said. "Nope there sure aren't." she said
as she flipped the page and continued reading. There were
pictures on this page so I was glad.
After a couple more stories Teala was sound asleep. Tammy and
I left quietly. We heard mom and dad talking at the table. "I
never knew that Teala had seizures since this was the first
time she had one since she's been living with us." Mom said.
"We should take her to the doctor sometime this week to see
what is going on." "Agreed. And also to learn what we can do
to help, if there's any medications, or any other things that
trigger this sort of thing." Mom said. They then joined hands
and said a prayer for Teala. They weren't aware that we were
ease-dropping.
Mom got up then and began to fix some lunch. She came to the
living room where Tammy and I were sitting on the floor by the
wall. "You two been sitting here a while huh?" "Yeah." Tammy
said. "Mommy, is Teala going to be ok?" "Yes sweetie. We're
just going to go to the doctor this week to see what made her
have the seizure and to learn how we can help her better if it
happens again." Mom said. "I hope it doesn't happen again." I
said. "Me to sweetie." Mommy said as she hugged me. "You two
go wash up for lunch while I go get Teala up and see if she is
hungry." "Otay mommy." I said as I raced Tammy to the bathroom
sink. She let me win. "YAY! I win!" I said as I turned on the
faucet. I washed my hands with soap and then rinsed them.
"Good girl." Tammy said as she helped me dry them on the
towel. Then she washed her hands. Teala was sitting in her big
highchair. Mom and dad were seated. Tammy helped me into my
highchair and then she also sat down. We said grace and ate.
It was yummy!
After lunch I went to Emily's house to play. I told her what
happened to Teala. "Wow. I hope she gets better." Emily said.
"She will." I said confidently. We played for a while and I
even had dinner at her house. I didn't take my nap so when I
came home from Emily's, I was tired. I watched a movie with
mommy and daddy. Tammy was out with some friends. Teala was
sitting in the playpen watching the movie as well. I myself
was sitting between mommy and daddy with a nice thick cloth
diaper, my jammies on, a bottle full of baby formula and a
stuffed animal in my lap. I was snuggled up and comfy.
I never saw the end of the movie because I dozed off. Mom woke
me. She had me laying on the couch while she changed me. Then
she pulled my jammies up and picked me up. "Goodness gracious
darling you're getting too heavy for momma to carry." She said
as she strained to walk with me in her arms. Finally she got
me into my room. She almost dropped me in my crib. "Mommy!" I
said as I giggled. "Shhh. Your sister is asleep." Mom
whispered. 'Otay, me sowwy." I whispered back. She tucked me
in with Mr. Fluffy. She put a pacifier in my mouth and then
leaned down to kiss me goodnight. My eyes closed. Sleep
overcame me once again.
