Title: Celestine Naked in San Francisco
Part: 5
Summary: Celestine makes the decision to be seen naked, and forces
herself to do it
Keywords: F, exhib, public, real

I wanted to go out in the daylight again, but I wanted to be seen. I've
taken to driving around the city obsessively looking for places to walk
naked and imagining myself walking naked in different places. I have
discovered two things that San Francisco has a lot of that are perfect for
walking naked. First, foot bridges over roadways, and second, stairways
from one level to the next. (As you probably know, San Francisco is built
on hills. But they aren't what you normally think of as hills--they are
really miniature mountains. San Francisco streets hold two
distinctions--both the crookedest street in the world, which I'm sure
you've seen, and one of the steepest streets in the world. But in many
places the hills are just too steep for a road, and they put a stairway
instead. To my mind, both the bridges and the stairways are perfect for
walking naked, because . . . the police can't chase after you in their
cars! And as I discovered before, the bridges have the added advantage of
enabling you to be seen by the traffic below without being in actual contact with them.

Some of the bridges go over the giant freeways, but most of them just go
over the busier streets of the city. Market Street west of Castro winds
through some big hills, and I discovered several foot bridges stretch over
Market, and several stairways go from Corbett Street, above Market and
parallel to it, down to the sidewalk above Market. Market Street in this
area isn't a regular city road. It's like a mountain road--it has no
houses on either side. It has a sidewalk, but it's not connected to the
road, rather it's a separate foot path 10 or 15 feet above the road, and
completely overgrown with trees.

I had gotten home at about 5:30, put on my naked rain coat, and was back
in my car. I found one of the foot bridges over Market Street. It was
still broad daylight, and the traffic on Market was heavy, but this bridge
was like a tunnel over the city--It started somewhere far above Market, and
ended in a long stadium-style circular ramp far below Market on the other
side. I thought I could walk all the way across without ever being
actually close to the traffic below. And as I had thought before, why
would anyone ever actually walk over this bridge?

The trick is actually finding the beginning of the bridge. It's
somewhere in the street up above, but between two houses. It takes some
doing to figure out. I drove along Corbett slowly, and turned toward
Market on a street called Romain. It was fairly long, maybe 200 yards, but
dead-ended, and there at the end of the road was the entrance to the bridge
high over Market. I turned around and drove slowly back up the street
looking for any sign of life from the houses crowded together on both
sides. No one was out. I turned back around and went slowly back down,
still no one. I parked illegally right at the end of the road, with my
door just a few feet from the entrance to the bridge. (Unlike the bridge
over 101, this one had no ramp up--it goes straight out at the level of
Romain, which is itself high above Market. The other side of Market is far
below.) I got out of the car, in my rain coat, my legs bare (and of course
naked underneath). I tossed my flip-flops onto the floor of my car, so I
was standing there barefoot, my pussy just a few inches above the hem of
the coat. I realized that leading away from the bridge to the left and the
right was the Market Street sidewalk, more like a mountain hiking trail
though the trees on the side of the hill.

As I stood there looking at my options, a guy came out of the garage of
the very last house on the street! I wasn't naked, so rather than being
thrilling this was just really irritating. My rule is usually if I see
someone while I'm still "scouting for locations," I should take that as a
sign, and find a different place. But this bridge was beckoning to me so
strongly! I couldn't just stand there looking around, it looked too
suspicious, so I decided to walk down the sidewalk to the left, still in my
coat.

The sidewalk was great. It is a verdant tunnel through the overhanging
trees. I could hear the traffic of Market Street below me to my right, and
just catch glimpses of the cars through the trees. To my left were
people's front doors! Strangely, people actually lived on this
"street"--their only access to their houses a sidewalk. After about 400
yards the trees opened, and the sidewalk was exposed for about another 400
yards as it descended down to Market. I stopped at the edge of the trees
to decide what to do.

I really wanted to get naked. The sidewalk under the trees was perfect,
very protected, the only problem was the guy in his driveway. I decided to
take off my coat there at the edge of the trees and sneak back toward my
car to see if the guy was still there. I took it off and hid it in the
bushes next to the sidewalk, and stood there. I was again completely naked
in broad daylight in the middle of San Francisco. But I was completely
protected, and there was virtually no chance of getting caught (again, why
would anyone walk on this sidewalk?). The feeling of power and freedom is
so fantastic, to be in the middle of the city, traffic bustling by just
below you, yet to be in a safe quiet area where you can run around naked
with no danger of getting in trouble is so fantastic. My ultimate desire
is to walk down the middle of a crowded sidewalk completely naked. I would
love that so much, to have everyone staring at me but afraid of me--no one
bothering me, just looking. So exciting! I want that so much!

I looked down the exposed part of the sidewalk, where the trees stop and
it is clearly visible above Market Street. I considered walking in that
direction, but was not ready to yet. I really wanted to go over the
bridge. Being on a bridge like that is the perfect manifestation of what I
just described--being seen by everybody but not bothered, just stared at.

My plan was to creep back up the sidewalk toward my car until I could
see the guy's driveway without him seeing me. I walked confidently up the
sidewalk until I saw the clearing in the trees that indicated the street
where my car was. I walked slower, crouched down, and keeping close to the
right side so as not to be seen. The truth was, I was completely exposed,
there was not even a hint of covering from the street. There was no way I
could see the guy in the driveway before he'd see me. I couldn't find any
way to do it. I knew I was only maybe 100 feet from my car now, and I
decided just to do it. If he was there, I could just get in my car and
drive away before he could do anything. I was nervous, but I took a breath
and walked purposely out into the open.

Fortunately he was nowhere to be seen, and then I was at the entrance to
the bridge. My car was 5 feet behind me, the bridge 10 feet ahead. I was
in the middle of a big open space, completely exposed, completely naked.
There were no poles or anything to hide behind. I could now see the
traffic clearly rushing by below on Market. I hadn't been seen yet. I
could just get in my car, or run back into trees and get my coat. It was
broad daylight. This was insane. I had never done anything like this. I
was actually thinking about walking in front of a constant stream of cars
in the day time completely naked.

I had to do it. And I knew despite how crazy it was there was no
danger. I could walk out a few feet and run back. My heart was pounding
again, my stomach in knots, adrenaline coursing through me. I quickly
crossed to the bridge and walked a few feet out onto the bridge, until I
was directly above the edge of the road. It was now only maybe 40 more
feet to the other side. I knew I had to do it, and I started across.

I was afraid to stop and actually look down at the traffic, so I kept
walking purposely across. They had to see me, a completely naked girl just
a few feet above their heads. But no one honked. In no time I was all the
way across. I looked back across and could see my car at the far end. If
someone started across the bridge now from that end I would be in serious
trouble, but why would they? I looked down over the side. From here the
path was a circular ramp down to the street. It was two loops to get to
the level of Market. I didn't know what the set up was at the bottom of
the ramp. But there was no one on the bridge, and I would see anyone
coming up the ramp. I had to go down just a little ways.

Half way around the first loop it really struck me how exposed I was.
There was nothing above me, I was a long way from my car, and it was
completely light. At this angle no one could see me from Market, but I was
so far from my car! My heart continued to pound. Still, I could go just
one more half loop. I was now directly below the end of the bridge, but
still 10 feet above the road. I was kind of in the shadows, but completely
exposed to the cars. Completely exposed. They had to see me, but they
were driving fast, and might not notice the naked girl just overhead. Now
I couldn't even see my car. I could still just run back up the ramp and be
to my car in no time. But I could go just a little further. I continued
down the ramp another half loop. Now I could actually see the street level
of Market. It was right there, just 20 feet around the bend. I was at the
far end of the loop way from the street. I could get just a little closer.

I forced myself to walk forward. Each step was harder, the cars got
louder--they were now right there. I didn't just hear and see them rushing
by, they were close enough I could _feel_ their presence. I was not more
than 10 feet from the edge of the street. Still no one had indicated they
saw me. I had to finish. I focused on the end of the ramp and forced
myself to walk to it, then out into the middle of the sidewalk right next
to the street. It was broad daylight, and I was standing there naked on
the corner of one of the busiest streets in San Francisco! I had done it,
I wanted to turn and run back up the ramp. I forced myself to stand there
for 10 seconds before I let myself turn around. I had just exposed myself
completely, openly, in the light. And amazingly, no one honked or slowed
down! I loved that. I knew they saw me, I was sure they had, but I didn't
want them to stop or honk.

Finally I turned around and went back to the ramp. I jogged up the
first loop then slowed to a casual walk the second. I was now feeling once
again that post-rush satisfaction and confidence. I had done the dangerous
thing--walking back to the car was a piece of cake. And as I rounded the
last loop back to the bridge, that feeling was replaced with regret that
the walk would be over so soon. Maybe I should have stayed down there
longer. Maybe continued down the hill? I walked slowly back across the
bridge, but still didn't stop and show myself to the traffic below. I
pretended like I had a purpose, and looked straight ahead.

In no time I was back in my car. I couldn't believe what I had just
done! This was the most fantastic thing ever. My mind was racing. I was
so close to what my ultimate fantasy was--to walk naked through a crowd of
people, to be able to walk naked all the time without ever being bothered.
What I had just done was crazy. It was so close to that! I could do it
again, and surely I could take that last step?

I still had to go get my coat. Once I was back in my car I felt a huge
sense of relief, and it's hard to get back out--you have to work yourself
back up again. but at the same time I didn't want the day to end. I
thought of something I could do. I drove my car, still naked, and without
any coat or anything that I could throw over myself if I was stopped, back
up Romain, around Corbett and down to Market, and stopped at the foot of
the exposed section of the sidewalk. I decided I would walk up the exposed
sidewalk to get my coat. I waited for a break in the traffic of Market,
and jumped out. But the thrill had gone for now, and I was just
uncomfortable with the idea of getting caught. So I hurried to the top of
the incline where the trees began and I had hidden my coat. It had not
been disturbed, and I quickly threw it on. After walking around naked in
public, walking around in a short coat, completely naked underneath, with
your bare ass and pussy just inches from the hem of the coat, is like
walking around in full winter clothing in the middle of summer. You feel
like the most un-exposed person in the world. I sauntered back to my car
"fully clothed," got in, and drove home.

It's amazing how your nerve comes and goes. After this episode I
thought a lot about figuring out a way to walk through a crowd naked. I
was so close to it. But like happened after the first time, and after the
bridge over 101, I lost my nerve after this day. Although it's very easy
now for me to go out at night naked, it is still really hard for me to go
out during the day. I have built up my comfort levels for being naked at
night, but even though I've done it a couple times I never have gotten
comfortable during the day. I still have to _really_ push myself to do
anything during the day, and it usually seems just scary rather than
exciting.

But that's not forever! I'm still obsessed with what I did the other
day at Westfield. I've gone back there, but it's Christmas time now, and
the crowds are crazy. I can't even contemplate doing anything there again
until well after Christmas. I am planning on going back some time after
New Year's. Not to walk out the front door naked! But I want to at least
go back to my little hallway that I have all to my naked self.
