Three Poems
by Rachael

These were originally posted under the pen name "Persephone"

Are you familiar with Greek mythology?

He comes to me on tattered wings,
With all the fury passion brings;
Not for love my heart is his,
But for the pain when love begins.
The rending of sweet flesh as if
This body were a cloak,
And desperate were his urgency
To wear me as his own.
What burning is the yearning?
This flame which I would name,
That should I speak less eloquent
My lips would silence shame.
And yet he takes me to his chambers,
Wraps his heart round mine,
Welcomes me to hell,
Where love and hate combine.
Forgetting is the sire
Of innocence disguised -
The emptiness required,
Before he'll close my eyes.
With sudden thrust of manly knife
Nay! Manliness and then!
A thousand times a thousand
He fills me once again.
The burning of his blade,
The fire in his sac,
Fills me with eternity -
The love which lovers lack.

=========================================

As I was laying in my bed,
I felt the edge beneath my head,
It wasn't long enough you see,
To let me sleep most comfort'bly;
So to fix this little thing,
I used a little piece of string,
And a blade of stainless steel,
Suspended from a little wheel;
With a gentle tug I saw,
The solution to my problem fall,
The edge below met edge above,
And now I have the sleep I love.

end

Quietly weeping ice
Mourning winters lonely death
My tears fall for thee
