Here's one. 19-May-98 11:15:27
I just saw this the other day. I was waiting in line at the student centre at the university to use the bank machine. (I was in a hurry, so naturally there was a fifty mile line up.) Anyway, I spotted this little black beetle moving a few yards away. I stood there watching as it wandered around in circles, looking for the way back outside. Since the weather's been warm, all the female students are wearing summer clothes and sandals, slides, etc, which is enough to get my heart pounding even without any crushing. So anyway, I watched with anticipation as girl after girl walked towards this little beetle, sometimes just barely missing it. (All of a sudden I didn't care so much about the long line up...) Eventually an Asian girl, about 22 or so, very pretty, came by. She was wearing a knee-length white skirt and black slides with 2 or 3 inch rubber wedge heels on her bare feet. (Those thick soled shoes aren't really my favourite, but hey...) Anyhow, she came towards this beetle and was lined right up with it. She raised her right foot, brought it forward and... just stepped short of it. Damn! But then, she kicked it with her other foot, sending the bug skittering in front of her. And when she stepped forward with her right foot again, this time her shoe came down firmly on top of it. I heard a barely audible 'crunch' as she put her weight on it. She looked back over her shoulder as she stepped off it, saw that it was merely an insignificant insect, and kept walking without another look.
