Feedback A female student was trampled on by other students Saturday night at the West Campus Bus Stop at 2:30 a.m. There were simply too many students for what they knew to be the only bus for the next half hour. Knowing I'd never make it to the bus through the crowd of people, I waited at the benches. The next thing I knew, the students at the front door of the bus were literally pushing each other onto the bus. Next, people were falling to the ground, but no one cared. A girl became trapped underneath the pile of people. She was screaming at the top of her lungs but the students continued to step on top of her, their only concern being to get on the bus. Finally, a male student was able to carry her out from under the mass of people. She was still screaming. The bus driver would not help.

Shaken, crying and knowing I wouldn't ride the bus, I called Safe Rides. The woman knew what had happened to the girl, however, I was told that I was "not no specialer than anybody else" and I should just go back to the bus stop. So I walked to Central in the dark, scared to death.

I don't know who to blame for this--the students who didn't know how to think of anyone but themselves? the school who, knowing it was Homecoming Weekend, couldn't simply provide enough transportation? There is absolutely no excuse for what happened this weekend. The well-being of the students should be the University's first concern. How long until someone does something about this problem? It is not going away by itself. It would have been very easy for that girl to have been killed. We are all lucky she wasn't. How long until our luck runs out?
