What happened when an innocent worm met a very sadistic Billy Joel fan...by BigJayCool Wednesday, 24-Dec-97 10:12:39

I should preface this story by telling you a little about myself. I'm a sophomore journalism major at Hofstra University on Long Island. As you might know pop star Billy Joel is also from Long Island. Last year Joel played a small concert at Hofstra. Tickets for this went on sale about two weeks prior. This story centers on what happened while I was waiting on line to get tickets for him.

I got to Hofstra to get on line at about 7am. Tickets were to go on sale at 9. There was a small crowd (mostly girls) waiting on the steps of the playhouse. It was drizzling out and the ground was wet, and thus a lot of worms and snails were crawling about. Well I sit down on the steps and I pull out my portable CD player and I begin to wait until the box office opens. After about 20-30 minutes I look up and see this pretty blond girl standing up and looking down at the floor. I follow the path of her eyes adn notice that she's staring at a worm (how this worm climbed a flight of stairs I don't know). She flashes the worm an evil smile and calls over to her friends to come and look at this. Two of her friends don't want to be bothered but another blonde comes walking over. Both of these girls are very nice. 5-9 maybe 110-120 lbs. One had a nice chest and the other had an absolutley beautiful face. So innocent too, which really set up the suprise for what was to follow. By now I had taken off my headphones to hear what they were going to do. The pretty face girl asked the other what she was going to do? "Have some fun," the other replied. One girl picked up the worm and threw it (well flung it) into a wall near the other girls. They screamed and got up to run. In their terror one girl stepped right on the worm, flattening it's tip. The other two girls just stood their laughing. Then they walked over to the worm and tortured it with sticks and their feet and their books until it was around 8:45 and a major line started to form. It was then that a old lady came out and sais that tickets would be going on sale in ten minutes. Well, one of the girls put he worm down on the floor and put her foot over it. SHe was about to squash it when the other blonde stopped her. "Wait, I got a better idea," she said, and she took the worm and placed it about five feet in front of the box office window. Well, eventually the box office opened and line of about 700 students (mostly girls...aah) piled over to get tix. This poor worm never had a chance. The girls had placed him directly in their path and he was mush within minutes. After about the fifth person all that was left was a long grease stain that stretched to the box office window. I don't think anyone noticed there used to be a worm there at all. The two girls just stood there and watched, enjoying it all. They left with their tickets and went back to their dorms. I should have remembered this story when Billy Joel tickets went on sale at the Nassau Coliseum, but I forgot. I wonder how many more Billy Joel/Crush fans there are out there?
