Letter from Kathy
( about the article Boy Trampled to Death by Women Fleeing Fire )
Ed: I'm posting this reply I got from Kathy for a well known article. I find it quite interesting!
I am so glad that you liked my little collection. That article about the boy in the fire was amazing. There was a similar fire a few years later at a shirt factory in NY that helped to change all the labor laws. I mention it because the articles about that fire stated that the women who worked there were all between 15 and 19 years of age because older women wouldn't take such low paying jobs. My guess is that the boy who got trampled to death in the earlier fire was crushed not just by women only, but probably by young women as well :-)
I am glad that you save the article. I had taken it down from my site a month before I took down the whole site because of a number of people complaining that it was too horrible to post because it was a real incident...and that a child's death should not be used to stimulate purient interests. What can I say? I would have saved him from being crushed to death if I could have...but since he was dead all these many years and no one could do a thing about it, I didn't see a problem with people being amazed by it. I myself reflect on the hard soled shoes with those hard little stacked heels that were so popular back then. The autopsy talks about his face being too deformed to recognize.
Do you think he was on his back when it began? Did he wake up as a woman stepped onto him....and then another and another before he could do anything about it? They said he was "slight for his age." My neighbor has a 10-year-old son who is slight for his age. The boy only weighs 59 pounds. I wonder if the boy in the fire was that little? When the women in the fire first stepped onto the boy do you think he looked up and screamed only to have yet another foot come down on his face? How long do you think he lasted under that amazing crush? What terror went through him when he realized that as soon as one woman stepped off another took her place. Did hard heels slip off his upper thighs only to come to a full-weight rest on his private parts? Were they crushed under women's feet as well? Were his hands mashed to a pulp? How long did he last? Did some women stamp over him in a rush to push forward? Were any of the woman extremely heavy? Perhaps one of them stepped on his head. What were the most number of women ever on his body at one time...6, 7, 8? Did they ever come to a halt as a group and just stand on him? Did he have time to say his prayers? Did he scream for help or mercy? Did he feel his own insides being rearranged? Looking at my neighbor's son I would assume that the weight of 6 woman would squash him like a bug. ...So many questions and no answers...it must be frustrating for you to ponder, poor baby :-)
If I find more or anyone sends me some I will let you know. Congratulations on your web page.....Kathy
