5 True Experiences of Accidental Cat Crushing
Experience #1
I have friend, 41 yrs old, 121 lbs, size 7 1/2 shoe. She works in an office environment and always wears high heels. She enjoys wearing the heels down to the nails since they sound louder and do more damage to floors, toes, and feet. She lives on a working farm with husband, kids, and 20-some cats and kittens. One day, while in her boots with hard soles and harder heels, she was carrying two 5-gallon buckets of water, total weight of 10 gallons of water is approximately 80 lbs. She "weighed" over 200 lbs with the water. She was climbing a small staircase and lost her balance on the first step and stepped back fast and hard back to the ground. She felt something she said felt like horsecrap compress beneath her heel and the area between the sole of the boot and the heel. Then she heard a most awful shriek, she had stepped full weight on an 8-week old kitten! She jumped off of it immediately and it ran away!! She was relieved she had not killed it!
An hour later her daughter said "Mom, there's something wrong with one of the kittens". My friend, we'll call her Bootgirl, thought "great, what else can go wrong today?" She walked over and it was the kitten she had crushed beneath her boot with the 200 lbs of flesh, bone, and the water! It's back legs were obviously broken, and the spine was crushed as well. By the time she had gotten there, it was obviously dying from internal injuries. She had to fess up to the family about the accident! She said she felt horrible about it, I had kidded her about crushing a mouse, and here she had crushed a kitten do death! They buried it with full honors in the "back 40".
Just two days later, while dressed in her business suit and spike heels, she ran her daughter back to school to pick up a forgotten assignment. When they returned, there was a cat crushed in the drive, crushed flat. From the neck back, the width of her tires on her Ford F250 pickup. This is a big old truck, with a huge heavy V-8 over the front wheels. Evidently the cat had been hanging inside the driver's side front wheel, it would be the only place you couldn't see the cat as you approached the truck. She had felt nothing as the wheels crushed the cat's guts out of it's mouth, she had no idea what had transpired beneath the heavy wheels of her big Ford. Her daughter, having lost her favorite kitten and now favorite cat, told her mother, "MOM, I wish you'd quit killing all out cats!!".
After a couple of days to think about the two crushes, Bootgirl would play with some of her more squeamish friends by opening a conversation with "you'll never believe what happened this week!" Naturally, when she told the story, some would really freak out! She could never do this on purpose, but she is sort of enjoying the infamy of the event a bit!
Experience #2
A friend visited Bootgirl after work not a week later. The driveway is east-west, and in the afternoon the sun was shining directly in her eyes. As my friend and daughter watched from the porch, with the sun at their backs, her friend slowly drove over a cat sunning itself on the warm gravel driveway. It was an old Chrysler New Yorker and, again, the driver was oblivious to the destruction beneath her wheels/ Naturally, Bootgirl and daughter jumped to their feet but could not stop the friend before the rear wheel crushed the cat again. Again, this crush was across the midsection, the butt and head/shoulders were fine, the middle torso, flat as a pancake! The daughter ran past the car and as the driver turned she glimpsed the crushed animal and really freaked out! It took quite awhile to calm her down, and some shots. She now enters the property slow and carefully. And, what was she wearing, a power business suit and spike heel pumps!
Experience #3
Another friend, Honda-Girl, was dressed in her business suit, silky hose, and high heels for work. As she backed her Honda Accord down her drive, the right side wheels passed over and crushed her neighbor's cat, this time splitting it open, and spilling it's guts on the concete drive. Since she was heading up the street, she never looked back at the driveway since she checked for traffic and drove away, paying attention to the street, not the driveway. By the time she had gotten to work, her hysterical neighbor had left a distraught voicemail telling her of the accident! The Honda-Girl is a coworker, and she lef me listen to the voicemail, the neighbor accused her of intentionally crushing the cat! By the time the two women talked, the neighbor had calmed down, and had apologized for the accusation. My friend and I checked her tires, but found nothing on the rubber. She said that people should keep pets in during the morning rush when folks are heading to work! She iterated to me that she didn't feel a thing as the wheels passed over the cat and she wasn't at fault. A third case of women dressed in power clothes and heels!
Experience #4
While at lunch with a secretary who has since left our company I asked her how her day had gone. She told me a voice that was just a bit loud, and with a big smile, "I ran over a cat on the way to work today!! I smushed in big time all over the street!" As she told me, she dug her heel into the top of my foot, I have to say, it aroused me more than I had thought possible! The women at the next table look horrified when they heard the statement, and disgusted as my friend detailed the whole event. Cat runs from behind garbage cans, both wheels on right side crush its head, she stopped, backed up, checked to make sure it was dead, saying she'd have put it our of it's misery if it was still alive. (I've never known a woman able to do this.) We switched subjects to office politics, but the looks the next table gave her and her 4" spike heels were like daggers!! Again, a woman in power clothing and heels crushing a cat and having little sympathy for what their sexy feet, silky hose, and spike-heeled foot had caused by pressing a car's accelerator. The car was an old Oldsmobile station wagon.
Experience #5
An internet friend, when hearing the first story, told me she had picked up a friend and was heading to work, both women dressed for success! The car was a big Buick Riviera she had borrowed. A black cat wandered into the street and since the road was wet she did not jam on her brakes and risk losing control, she just ran it over, both driver's side tires. Even though it was a larger cat, she felt nothing, but heard a noise as the front wheel threw the cat into the frame of the car. Her friend said "we have to go back and see if it's alive". They went back, but it was just a mess! Although the front tire had hit the cat broadside, the cat had spun was crushed head to tail by the rear wheel. By lunch everyone at work was calling her the "Cat Killer" and warning against bad luck since it was a black cat! She told them to be careful, or they could be next under the "car"!!
Epilogue - All women, all dressed in hose, heels, shorter power skirts... all had run over cats, and all brushed it off in a matter of minutes. Is there a trend here, or just coincidence?? This is hardly a statistically valid sample size, but it gives one pause to think and fantasize a bit... a woman climbing the corporate ladder, in her deadly high heels, just doesn't care what gets crushed beneath her heels, or her wheels!!!
Experience 1, 2, 3 all occurred in September 97. 4 in March 97. #5 two years ago on Halloween Night.
