Here Here! Thousands of bugs meet their fate daily beneath the crush of a female foot. My live-in saw a cockaroach in the kitchen and crushed it's guts out beneath her sandal'd foot just last week. It's much more earth friendly to crush pesky bugs underfoot instead of using dangerous chemicals also! On the topic of food, did you know that in parts of Portugal some of the finest wines are still made by stomping on grapes barefooted? Some of the best Port wine is still made by dumping usually a thousand pounds of wine grapes into huge tile lined concrete stomping tanks called "lagares". The grapes are stomped by teams of college age young people, both male and female together wearing swimwear and tee shirts, 20 to 30 in a stomping press, barefooted and thigh deep in grapes for 3 hours at a stretch. This is done as mechanical presses crush the seeds of wine grapes, thus adding excess tannins to the wine. ONLY the bare human foot has proven to crush the grape clusters to juice and not break the seeds. This practice is still being done today in the fall harvest season during September and October. I for one would love for the chance to goto Portugal in the Fall and hopping into a grape press barefooted with my lovely ladyfriend Kerry. Check your tourist office, winery trips to portugal are often scheduled and available. Genuine barefoot stomped Port wine, aged 20 years or more usually commands $50 per bottle if your wondering :)
