This story is about the relationships of some female youth soccer players and their coach, a young man who goes into girls' soccer coaching involuntarily. Chapter 3

I found some blank messages on my answering machine when I came home
from Thanksgiving dinner with my family. I knew the calls were from
Chelsea. We had agreed that I wouldn't call her even though she had
her own cell phone, because it would be hard to call her at the right
moment. She called me again that night.

"Alex," Chelsea said. "I have a good news and two bad news for you.
Which first?"

"Worst one," I said.

"I'm dating."

"Oh," I said. "Congratulations. I hope he's really nice to you."

"I hope so too," Chelsea said, giggling. "But I still believe I'll
dump him before the Christmas break."

I laughed. "What's the other bad news?"

"You will not be dating when we split," she said, giggling again.

I laughed again. "What's the good news then?"

"You'll know it's worth the wait for me to dump my new guy," she said.
I heard a sound, and I believed she had fallen off her bed or chair.

I stared at the blank TV after the phone conversation. It looked like
the brief relationships between the girls and me had ended. I missed
the joy and excitements, but it was also a huge relief for me. I knew
I needed a life beyond them, and they needed a life beyond me.
However, it was hard to not think about Chelsea. Sex wasn't the only
thing I had with her. We were very close friends, probably more closer
than I had wanted.

I got another call from Chelsea a few weeks later. We had talked on
the phone sparingly after she had declared she was dating. I had not
seen her since then.

"I have a good news and a bad news for you," she said.

"Bad news first," I said.

"I'm still with him," Chelsea said, and giggled.

I laughed. "Okay. Good news?"

"I'm going to NYU," she said. "I'll either travel by car or by bus, or
stay there. Depends on how much I can get from the aids. Will you buy
me a car?"

"Congratulations," I said. "Yeah, but only if you're serious."

"Damn," she said. "Can't you treat it as serious?"

"I kind of know you," I said, laughing.

"Honestly," she said, after her laugh. "If I asked, would you?"

"Depends," I said. "A used Corolla is okay. A Hummer is not."

"That's what I don't like about you," Chelsea said, giggling. "Can't
you talk sweeter to me? You know what?"

"What?"

"One more bad news," she said. "I'm not dumping him. Okay, I may, but
you'll still have to wait for me to dump at least a dozen other guys
before you will see me again. And, hey, don't laugh. You're not going
to date until after then. And, also, you'll have to buy me two Hummers
to see me. And... Did I miss anything?"

On New Year Eve I went to New York City to watch the traditional ball
dropping atop Times Square with some friends and a girl I met at the
Christmas party. I had sex with my new date almost the entire New Year
day. It was nice to enjoy the sex without the worry of cops knocking
at my door.

I went out with the girl a few more times before we stopped. She
wanted a steady relationship leading to a possible marriage. I didn't
think I was ready for it. Nevertheless, I still gave her the
Valentine's flowers I preordered.

I got a call from Chelsea a few weeks later. She wanted to see me. She
had ended her relationship with her guy a few days earlier. We had sex
in my apartment, but she spent more time cuddling with me in silence.

"I've decided to take the bus instead of living at campus," Chelsea
said, while pinching my waist. "It will save more than twelve thousand
a year."

"But that's going to mean a lot of time on traveling," I said.

"Better than reapplying for NYU Law School when I'm done with
undergraduate," she said.

"Well," I said. "What about a Corolla, or a loan?"

"Nah," Chelsea said. "Two reasons. First, you're not my guy. Actually
three reasons. First, you're not my guy. Second, even if you were, I
still won't take it. Third, I'll get into bigger trouble if I drive a
car you buy or a place you pay for."

"You'll be eighteen when you go there," I said.

"Nah," she said. "Yeah I'll be eighteen. But not the implications.
After all, the time isn't a real big deal."

"What is?"

"Well," Chelsea said, turning to look at me with a sly smile I hadn't
seen for quite a while. "Promise me one thing?"

"What?" I said, laughing.

"Promise first before I tell," she said, with the sly smile getting
bigger.

"I can't," I said. "Too dangerous."

"Promise," she said, giggling. "Or you'll regret it."

"Okay," I said, chuckling. "I promise."

"I don't care if you're dating or married," She said, giggling again.
"If I want you, give me that hour or two."

"Wow," I said, laughing. "For how long do I have to keep this
promise?"

"Hmm," Chelsea said. "That's a good point. Either you're too old for
it, or you become incapable, or I get married, or I give you a waiver
in writing, or you get AIDS, or you... Did I miss anything?"

"No," I said, still laughing. "I don't think so. But does it work the
other way as well?"

"Of course not," Chelsea said, giggling.

I was still laughing. "That's kind of unfair," I said. "By the way.
How's your best friend?"

"She's on her second quest now," Chelsea said. "You know, she's a
bitch. After the split, she began talking with me about the blow job
she still owed you."

"When was it?"

"Hell if I can remember," Chelsea said. "Okay, I think it was after
the New Year. I told her I had a guy to deal with and told her to call
you herself. Guess what?"

"What?"

"The next time I saw her," Chelsea said. "Which was the next day, she
was talking about a new guy she had just met."

I laughed once again. "How come I'm always from the bench?" I said.

"You are for her," Chelsea said, giggling. "Not for me. You're my
number one choice as long as I am not with anyone."

A few weeks later I was again talking with Chelsea on the phone.

"Are you dating now?" Chelsea said.

"No," I said. "Why? You broke off once again?"

"No," Chelsea said. "Not yet. I'm just curious."

"Oh, okay."

"So what do you do to keep yourself from having wet dreams?"

"Well," I said. "You know there are places you can go to, have a
drink, and hope you'll get some company for a few hours, or a few
weeks, don't you?"

"You mean soccer fields?"

I nearly fell off from my balcony down to the parking lot five storeys
below.

I picked up the phone from the floor. "Are you still there?" Chelsea
said. She was also laughing.

"Yeah," I said, still laughing.

"Okay," she said. "I thought you fell off your couch."

"No," I said. "Almost into the parking lot. Anyway, guess who I saw
yesterday?"

"Who? Julia Roberts? Or George Clooney?"

"No," I said. "Diana, Diana Fiore."

"At Wendy's?" she said.

"Oh," I said. "You know?"

"Of course," Chelsea said. "You forgot I know everything?"

I laughed. "I didn't," I said. "I mean I didn't know she works there."

"She started working there when the soccer season ended," Chelsea
said. "I still don't know if she's really gay."

"Why?"

"Because both the FBI and Secret Services report they can't find
evidence of her going out with guys."

"She said she didn't have time," I said. "School, work, and computer."

"You went to bed with her?"

I laughed again. "Of course not."

"Then why would she be talking with you for an hour?"

"Not an hour," I said after my laugh. "She was about to get off from
work, so I gave her a ride home."

"Oh," Chelsea said. "what color of panties was she wearing?"

I laughed once again. "That's old trick, Chelsea," I said. "But I only
gave her a ride. That's it."

"Okay," Chelsea said, giggling. "No more tricks. But I still don't
know if she's really gay."

I dropped the phone on the floor again as I laughed. "Well," I said,
after picking it up. "You'll have to ask her, not me."

"Okay," Chelsea said. "I'll ask her then, about how many times you did
it with her."

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I had something to tell Diana, but I didn't have her phone number.
Chelsea hadn't called me for a couple weeks as well. I went to Wendy's
to deliver the message. Diana was changing, so I stayed at the
entrance. She greeted me when she came out of the employee dressing
room and saw me.

"Are you going home now?" I said to her.

"Yeah," Diana said. "You come for food?"

"No," I said. "I come for you. Are you riding the bus or with
someone?"

"Bus."

"Well," I said. "You're riding with me then."

Diana giggled. "Okay, Thanks."

I gave Diana a piece of paper.

"What is this?" Diana said.

"Remember I told you about a guy who said he worked part-time for an
IT firm?" I said as we began walking toward my jeep.

"Yeah."

"I saw him today again. He told me he's quitting that job as he's
going to Albany."

"So?"

"Well," I said. "He said his company's hiring, and they will take
newbies. So I told him I got a newbie on hand. They pay much better
than Wendy's and you'll get some experience."

Diana giggled. "Newbie, huh?" She stopped and checked the paper again,
then asked. "Where is the company?"

"Oh," I said, while unlocking my jeep door. "I forgot to ask, but he
doesn't have a car, so I suppose it's along a bus route. Give them a
call."

"Okay," Diana said. "Thanks. I'll call them after my exam."

"Nah," I said, as we got into my jeep. "Call them tomorrow. Don't miss
the chance. Your exam is only two weeks away anyway. You can take up
the job afterward if they hire you."

"Okay," Diana said. "I will. Thanks for doing this for me."

"No problem."

"And thanks for coming here to tell me about it."

"I don't have your phone number, so this is the easiest way."

"Oh," she said. "I'm sorry. I didn't know you don't have it. Do you
have a pen?"

"I don't know," I said. "Check the glove compartment."

Diana took out a marker from the glove compartment and wrote something
on the paper, then folded the paper and tore it apart. "Where do I put
it?" she said, waving the piece of paper.

"Glove compartment?" I said.

"It's not easy to call me though," Diana said, after putting the piece
of paper and my marker into the compartment. "We only have one phone
line and it's usually connected to the Internet."

"Well," I said. "You can keep me informed of the progress about the
job then."

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I had been rather busy the next two weeks helping my friend Nakhval
re-decorating his house at our spare time. He was expecting his first
son in a month or so. When I got home after the project was finished,
I got a call from Chelsea.

"Are you dating?"

"No," I said, laughing. "Why? And is the exam over?"

"Yeah," Chelsea said. "It's over. And it's over, too."

"You split again?"

"Yeah," Chelsea said. "But this time it's bad. He dumped me."

"But you don't sound sad."

"Actually I am, a little," Chelsea said with a sigh. "You know why?"

"Why? And I'm sorry to hear that."

"Damn," Chelsea said. "I thought you'd be happy."

I laughed again. "Okay," I said. "I'm happy too. Why bad?"

"Because he dumped me before I could dump him. I was planning to keep
him for a couple more weeks."

"Well," I said. "I don't understand. How can you schedule something
where emotions are involved?"

"Who said emotions were involved?" Chelsea said, giggling. "Okay,
okay. Maybe, a little. It's more about company and physical
attractions, though."

I shook my head as I sighed. "So any plans?" I said.

"Yes," Chelsea said. "And you'd better not be dating anyone right
now."

"I am not."

"Okay," Chelsea said. "I am planning to give you a good time till my
birthday. Wait, after the birthday. I want you to be my first man when
I become an adult."

"And you'll dump me after that?"

"No," Chelsea said, giggling. "Well, not permanently. Anyway, I've
changed my plan. I'm going to live in New York. I'm moving after my
birthday. I got lucky. Normally it's impossible to get into residence
so late."

"What made you change your mind?"

"You remember Sheila?"

"Yeah. What about her?"

"She's moved to New York, because her fianc is now working there.
He's an attorney, and he'll find me a part-time job working at a law
firm. I'll get paid, I'll get laid, and I'll have the money for the
residence."

"Getting laid is a term?"

Chelsea laughed. "No, silly," she said. "It's a fringe benefit."

I laughed. "Okay," I said.

"Are you free tomorrow?"

"Is tomorrow Saturday or Sunday?"

"Sunday, you idiot."

"I'm free, then."

"Do you want to take me to the mall?" Chelsea said. "Only thing you'll
have to pay for is my birthday gift."

"Okay," I said.

"One more thing," Chelsea said. "I don't feel like giving blow job
lately. So you'll get nothing in return until my period is over."

I laughed. "Okay."

"Well," Chelsea said, giggling. "Since it's going to be clean, I might
as well see if anyone else can go. Damn, Barbara's still busy with her
quest. Maybe I'll try Diana. But I'm not sure if she'll be working
tomorrow."

"You said tomorrow is Sunday."

"Well," Chelsea said. "Wendy's opens seven days a week."

"She's still working at Wendy's?"

"Yeah," she said. "Why not? Wait, what did you do to her? Don't tell
me you got her pregnant."

I laughed. "No," I said. "I gave her the number of a company that's
hiring a while ago."

"Oh," Chelsea said. "She didn't mention it. I'm calling her now. I'll
call you tomorrow morning about the time."

I was also thinking about giving Diana a call after Chelsea hung up.
Then I realized Diana's phone number was still in the glove
compartment of my jeep. I went to the parking lot to get it and made
the call. The line was busy. I went to shower after a few unsuccessful
tries.

I was in my bed when my phone rang. It was Diana this time.

I heard a big sigh over the line. "I'm sorry," Diana said.

"Why?"

"I didn't call them before the exam," she said. "I did it after the
exam. They said they had already hired enough people."

"Oh," I said. "Too bad, but nothing to feel sorry about."

"Well, I feel sorry for letting you down."

"Don't be silly," I said. "So you're still working at Wendy's?"

"Yeah," she said. "Unless I get some good news."

"Like?"

"Well," Diana said. "I sent out a few proposals to bid for some web
design jobs. If I get these jobs, I'll probably quit Wendy's."

"Oh, okay," I said. "Chelsea just called you, right?"

"Yeah," she said. "I can't. I'm getting off at three tomorrow."

"Oh," I said. "Okay. Wait, I got a call on my mobile. Can you hold
on?"

"Sure," Diana said, as I grabbed my cell phone.

"Are you talking with Diana now?" Chelsea said on my cell phone.

"Yeah," I said. "How do you know?"

"Because I know you more than you know yourself," she said, giggling.
"I've changed my mind again. Tell her we'll pick her up after work.
I'll blow you until three."

I laughed. "Okay," I said.

I told Diana about the new plan after Chelsea hung up.

"Okay," Diana said. "I'll see you tomorrow."

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I was still in my bed the next morning when I heard someone slamming
on my door. I opened the door and saw Chelsea.

"How did you get here?" I said.

"Mark's come back for the summer," Chelsea said. "He's going out, so
he gave me a ride. Where's my kiss?"

I kissed her. "Have your breakfast yet?" I said.

"Nah," Chelsea said. "You want breakfast first or blow job first?"

I laughed. "Breakfast. Give me a minute and I'll go make it."

While having breakfast, Chelsea said. "If you don't mind, I actually
am not in the mood of giving blow jobs."

"Don't worry about it. But why?"

"Well," Chelsea said. "You know this guy who has just dumped me? I had
to give him a blow job if I wanted to get laid, or wanted him to do it
to me. It's like a bargain, a trade. I really don't like it. I need a
little time to get over it."

"Then why had you been staying with him?"

"Because he's really good," Chelsea said, giggling.

"I thought I was," I said teasingly.

Chelsea giggled again. "Well," she said. "You are, too. Okay, let me
put it this way. You're good in bed, but you can't get me sore for a
day. That guy is gifted. But his gift doesn't extend beyond the bed,
so he's not what a girl wants when her mind comes back. You know what
I mean?"

I was laughing, but I still said, "Yes, I know."

"Okay," Chelsea said. "You're a little inferior in the bed, but you're
slightly more useful outside the bed."

"I didn't know my breakfasts were so good," I said.

"Not too bad," Chelsea said. "But how can you make bacon look like
charcoal?"

I laughed. "Because I like them crispy. Anyway, you said you were
moving to New York after your birthday. Why so fast? And where will
you be staying?"

"Well," Chelsea said. "I'll be staying with Sheila for a few weeks
before I can move in to the residence. After all, I hope I can start
working before school starts. And..."

"And?" I said, a bit later.

"Did I tell you mom and dad are divorcing?"

"No. I'm sorry to hear that."

"It's okay," Chelsea said, letting out a sigh. "Actually it's
something everyone knows that will come sooner or later. It's the
reason that stuns everyone."

"Oh," I said, and began to think if I should express my curiosity.

"One of them has been cheating. Guess who?"

"Dad?"

"That's everyone's assumption," Chelsea said, giggling. "But it's not
the correct answer."

"Wow," I said, and laughed. "But where has he been then? All the time.
He's like never at home."

"I guess gay talks with his gay friends," Chelsea said, laughing.
"Hey."

"What?"

"Did you ever sleep with mom?"

"Are you crazy?" I said.

Chelsea laughed. "Then why would she be sleeping with the guy who
bought your house? I mean Mrs. O'Carroll's house. It has to be your
smell."

"Wow," I said. "I have no clue. I thought that guy was married."

"He's divorcing," Chelsea said. "That's how the secret leaked, and
leads to my parents divorcing as well."

"So mom is going to move over?"

"I don't know," Chelsea said. "I'll be eighteen soon, I'll be moving
to New York, I'll probably not get money from them anymore, so it's of
little concern to me. Well, actually I hope. She can't afford our
house by herself. I bet dad will be moving away."

"Where do you want to go after breakfast?"

"You really don't want the blow job?"

"Nah," I said, and laughed. I gathered the plates and forks from the
table.

"Let's go to the park for a walk. I haven't smelled fresh air for
quite a while. I'll reconsider the blow job after lunch. Hey, does
Diana give good head?"

I nearly dropped the plates I was holding. "You're a riot," I said,
still laughing. "Do you talk to her like this as well?"

"Oh, yeah," Chelsea said. "Of course. I like to see her blush. I enjoy
it even more when she has that sweet smile on her face after I ask her
how good you are."

"What do you want for your birthday?" I said, holding my laugh. I
didn't want this thread kept going.

"I don't know," she said. "Not underwear this time. I'll start
thinking when we get there."

----------------------------------------------------------------------

"Diana," Chelsea said, when she opened the jeep door for the Italian
girl. "Are you still wearing black panties?"

"What?" Diana said, staring at Chelsea with a little redness on her
face.

"He says you look very sexy in black," Chelsea said, giggling.

I could see red clouds spreading on Diana's face before I slammed my
face into the steering wheel. I then heard Diana laughed and a
slapping sound. Apparently Diana was slapping Chelsea's head.

"You're a riot, Chelsea," Diana said as she climbed into the back
seat.

"What are you buying me for my birthday, Diana?" Chelsea said when we
were at the mall.

"You'll know," Diana said. "I already bought it."

"Oh," Chelsea said. "Don't tell me it's cheap sandals again."

Diana laughed and slapped Chelsea. "No, but yes, cheap."

"Okay," Chelsea said. "Cheap is no problem. Hey, stop laughing, Alex.
Not you, your's can't be cheap. Hey Diana, got any idea?"

"I don't know," Diana said. "Jacket? Pants?"

"Can't you be a little more creative?"

"A house?"

I never knew Diana could talk funny as well. "That's a good idea,"
Chelsea said, still laughing. "What do you say, Alex?"

"Sure," I said. "Any house below a hundred dollars."

Chelsea couldn't find anything she liked from me, after two hours of
browsing. Finally she came to a conclusion. "Buy me an iPod," she said
to me.

"Okay," I said.

"Do you want one too, Diana?" Chelsea said to her friend.

"Nah," Diana said.

"You have one?"

"Of course no," Diana said. "But I don't listen to music when I'm on
the move. You know that."

"Okay," Chelsea said. "Let's go get it and then dinner, and then
movie, and then disco, and then... Diana, does Alex wear boxers or
brief?"

I heard slapping sound again as I bent down laughing.

We went to buy the iPod for Chelsea and then went for our dinner.

"Is Mark going to help you move?" Diana said to Chelsea.

"I don't know," Chelsea said. "He's still trying to decide if he'll go
to Normandy Beach with his gang."

"Why don't you ask Alex?" Diana said.

"Well," Chelsea said, giggling. "I don't think it's a good idea for
him to see Sheila again, and I don't know if Sheila would want to see
him when her fianc is around."

Diana giggled as I chuckled embarrassingly. "I didn't know that," she
said.

"I'll ask Barbara if Mark can't make it," Chelsea said. "Her boyfriend
still hasn't wrecked his car. That's even easier than asking mom and
dad."

"If none of them can make it," I said. "I'll get a friend to help, so
nobody will notice me."

"Actually," Chelsea said. "You don't need that friend. I can lend you
a pillow case."

"You're a riot, Chelsea," I said, laughing. "Is Barbara going to FDU?"

"Yeah," Chelsea said. "Her boyfriend, too."

"Is she staying at campus or is she going to drive?"

"She'll stay at campus," Chelsea said. "Too much time for the driving.
She'd prefer getting laid during that time."

"How come you're always talking about, about this, Chelsea?" Diana
said, giggling.

"Aren't you, Diana?" Chelsea said. "Why did you ask me what's the most
sexiest color for you?"

"Oh my God," Diana said, after laughing for like an hour. "You know I
didn't."

"That's because you already know it?" Chelsea said, giggling. "Tell
me, which color does Alex like more."

"I think we have finished dinner," I said, watching the duo laughing
and poking. I took them home after the dinner.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I went to Chelsea's birthday party but I didn't stay long. Diana had
thought about leaving with me, but Barbara's boyfriend promised to
give her and some other girls a ride, so she stayed.

Chelsea called me the next morning and I went to pick her up. I became
her first man after she reached adulthood. We spent a lot of time
together before she left for New York City.

Chelsea called me the next day after she moved. She gave me her new
mobile phone number.

"You can call me anytime from now on," Chelsea said.

"Okay," I said. "So how's life there?"

"I don't know," she said. "It's just the first day, and I'm still a
virgin in this city."

I laughed. "Did you go to the job interview today?" I said.

"Yeah," she said. "I think I'll get the job. I promised that guy a
blow job."

I laughed again. "What about city tour?" I said. "Is your cousin
taking you to the tour?"

"Nah," Chelsea said. "She's just got a job for herself, working for
the New York state society of CPAs. But actually there's not much I
want to see about the city other than the clubs and naked guys. I've
been here before for the tourist attractions."

"Okay," I said, laughing. "Give me your address when you move into
your residence so I can send you Christmas cards."

"Oh," she said. "I thought you would come see me at Christmas."

"Maybe," I said. "Depends who'll be with you and who'll be with me."

"Okay," she said. "Sounds fair. I won't want to see you at my door
when I'm giving another guy a blow job." She giggled.
