Bingo’s Stuff

“In the 1950s, in certain schools in south-east England, a yellow gollywog badge was worn by girls as a sign that they were no longer virgins.” Philip Brody. Don’t Do It! A Dictionary of the Forbidden. New York: St. Martin’s Press, 1997. Under Gollywog.

Can’t have links without something medieval
Marie de France was a French woman living and writing in England around 1170. Her poems are remarkable for their characterisation. “The Nightingale” is one of my favorites. You can see an English translation.

Chaucer’s “Miller’s Tale” from The Canterbury Tales. I loved this when I first read it as a teenager.

Sex Stuff
For those who are more visually minded, this page provides links to free French porn sites (click on the galleries when you have selected a site). I like French sites because American porn hardly ever portrays people like me or my friends.

For less pornographic visuals, try House of Transgressions which specializes in goth and fetish photography. There are some exceptional images here. All free to view.

Some of the ASSTR Author’s Sites I enjoy are:
Nicholas Urfé — I liked Indigo—the Swordswoman’s Tale.
Calylia — check out her Lemonade Paradise through FTP.

Commercial Sex Information Service has a page with interesting documents and papers related to prostitution.

Recommended Books
Tipping the Velvet by Sarah Waters is a lesbian romp of a read which takes place in 19th century England. Hear an interview with the author done on NPR's Fresh Air.
