I am not diabetic - yet. That's why I'm taking every precuation so I
don't develop the disease. Almost every member of my family on my
father's side has diabetes and my father is a double amputee and is
blind, and suffers other complications. My grandfather, who was a
Boxing Champion of the British Army and a very fit, toned athlete was
diagnosed when he was at his top form.
Unfortunately, especially in cases where there's a genetic component,
diabetes is difficult to predict and control. I'm within my normal
BMI, but still want to make sure I'm making every possible lifestyle
aspect a positive one so I inherit it from the family.
