Speedolad occasionally looked up as if to beg for help from anyone, but the moment he turned his gaze the cat growled an ear-piercing shriek which sent shivers all over the nearly naked body of the 14 year old boy.
  Suddenly, as Speedolad tried to adjust himself once more, the cat saw its opportunity and sprang on him, leaping with outstretched paws and landing squarely on the back shoulders of the boy. Speedolad was knocked forward and landed face-flat on the stone floor. The cat stood on the boy's back, its powerful jaws holding Speedolad's by the base of his thin neck. It was the animal's sign to force its victim to yield, and Spedolad knew it! The young boy stopped struggling under the grasping jaws of the panther, and shut his eyes tightly, waiting for the strong cat to bite... but it merely repositioned itself over the prostrated boy, straddling the small boy under his four legs.
   
  Speedolad knew what it was the cat wanted-

  The cat sensed the surrender of the boy and released his grip on his victims neck.
