The first paragraph reveals Sam's penchant for underage girls when
he hastily buys a house because of all the girls populating the
sidewalk on a cable-less morning. From there ... Well, let me say
that the above content codes are fully justified. I believe only
two of the possible age and gender codes -- bg and gg -- have been
omitted. Varangian must be slipping!
One serious code omission needs to be noted: mc for "mind control."
This genre is a new departure for both Kellis and Varangian. Maybe
they forgot to mention it?
Still in the first chapter Sam meets Demi, the most beautiful
twelve-year-old he has ever seen, thrills her fatally, calls 911
and is tossed into jail, where he suffers a pedophile's extreme
fate. But hold on as we start Chapter 2!
(I refuse to believe that revealing Sam's resurrection in the
second chapter constitutes a spoiler. Seventeen chapters remain!)
Sam awakens on a grassy Olympian hillside peopled with countless
nymphs and satyrs, all seeming about eleven years old except for a
few taller nymphs having the conical breasts of teenagers. He
explores this "pedophile heaven" to a depth of at least six inches,
but after three chapters finds it unsatisfying. These "children"
were all created to fuck and have enjoyed doing so for 5000 years.
Sam leaves the reader to consider whether pedophilia is an issue of
esthetics: the sleekly immature bodies -- versus behavior: the
submissiveness of innocence. He soon arrives implicitly at the
latter conclusion and returns to the "Human Preserve," where
innocence may yet be found.
Demi, who is actually Demeter, goddess of field, grain and
fecundity, having resurrected Sam because of his innate talent with
the "Climax Spell," grants him powers including teleportation and
entry to other minds, either for observation or control. Back on
Earth he first takes revenge on the jailhouse killers, then renews
his contacts in the old neighborhood before going on rampages at
the mall and finally the high school.
His mischievous plan for an orgy of 100 girls in the auditorium
gets out of hand, not least because too many females apparently are
like sheep in a herd. It results in thousands of nude women and
girls descending upon rush hour traffic, shouting "Freedom for
women -- from everything!" This attracts Zeus's attention, and Sam
is called on the marble.
Zeus fears that Sam's shenanigans may have given clever modern
humans, the moon walkers, too many clues to the reality of Olympus.
Sam's punishment is "horrible," according to the bystanders in
Zeus's throne room. Little do they know!
This tale is a romp of the imagination. I recommend it even though
I don't share Sam's obsession with little girls.
