Without knowing the exact nature of either your complaint, or the
doctor's specialty, my answer must be no more than mere speculation,
however, it is my considered opinion that the good lady doctor was
treating you for a destabilising mental condition.

In a similar situation, most people would remove their shirt and waist
below[sic] BEFORE they lay down.
My recommendation is that you lie down in bed, take off your clothes,
and get some rest.
