===================

It's kind of strange weather here. Spring appears to be trying to arrive
early. So unseasonal is it that the gardeners have been watering the
town gardens. And it's warm, so warm in fact that I decided to put the
bike back together.

A happy Sunday I spent emptying the tin of stray nuts and bolts. Because
the Kwak is hovering in the 20 year old bracket, one's bound to strip
the odd screw, so to speak. No time to curse alloy motors, got to catch
the weather. :)

Change oil and filters, tidy up spark plugs, a bang on the concrete
usually suffices to adjust the gap and dislodge the soot. Battery has
been on trickle-charge all night so...

Wooo wooo wooo wooo wooo... etc, but narry a kick from the damn thing,
bugger! Time for another beer to ruminate on the problem.

While addressing myself to a Monteith's Winter Ale, presumably there'll
be a Spring Ale soon, my 10 year old son gives the bike a grind on the
starter.

Wooo wooo wooo bang spit wooo wooo kaboom spit spit blaaaaAAAAAAHHHHH...

There he stands with grin a mile wide revving the balls out of motor.
Drop beer and run for the shed, "close the damn throttle!" I yell.

WAAAAAAA boom boom spit spit waaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA... "WHAT DAD?" he yells.

"CLOSE THE MOTHERFUCKING THROTTLE BEFORE YOU BLOW THE FUCKING THING UP!"

WAAAOOOMPH booma booma... "Oh," he says.

'Damn,' I think, 'the Japanese make oiling and cooling systems so
efficient these days. I tell you, Kawasaki motors are bomb-proof.'

So my son's reward was an afternoon's ride and a couple of laps of the
track on the dual seat. My reward was a few more laps by myself. It was
magic and both our grins will remain for some time. :)
