Uncle Jayle Jay
Uncle Jayle Jay is a retired Navy man. He's traveled all over the world, dipping

shined shoes and immacu- late uniform, Uncle Jay sat in the living room after
supper and made the mistake of trying to impress Pa with stories of all the
women he'd swept off their feet and screwed. Pa's jaw clamped.
"Shit, if a woman needs to be wined and dined afore she goes after your dick,
you must not have much." he said.
Well, Uncle Jay didn't blink an eye, but I could see his nose shift out of
joint.
"I get no complaints. It's the way things are done in polite society." he
sniffed back.
Pa gave that deep old rumbling horse laugh of his. "No wonder you bailed out.
Hereabouts, girls are educated on fuckin' and suckin' not eatin' steak and
sippin' champagne." Pa's eyes narrowed. "Hell, I bet you ain't never screwed a
hot country woman before."
Faced with Pa chiding and making small potatoes out of his boasting, then flat
out questioning his worldly wisdom, Uncle Jay squirmed and shifted the position

I sauntered in, pretending like I wasn't eaves- dropping behind the door, even
though Pa knew good and well I had been.
