Last of Her Kind
By Loki925* ( M/f, wolf, fantasy )
She was beyond hunger now. She welcomed the biting cold. She called to the Wind One last time. She called her name, "Miki."
She was the last of her kind. Hated by the humans and despised by the wolves that she looked like, but was not. She was an anthrop wolf, possessing the body of a wolf, but the mind and knowledge of a human. Once her kind was revered as gods, royalty, and kings, but now they were hunted and hated by all.
She kissed the ice and snow. She curled up against the cold and closed her eyes. She knew it would be the last time. She was prepared to leave this world now, taking with her the legend of her kind forever.
Cikuq pushed his sleigh. He only had four dogs left and they could no longer pull the sleigh through the fresh snow without his help. He was far enough away, now that he no longer could smell the horrid exhaust of the snowmobiles his people now used. His grandfather had taught him the old ways, all but lost to his people now.
Cikuq yearned to return to the ways of his ancestors. He had prepared well for this day, but a fierce storm two days ago had claimed two of his dogs. It seemed to be colder now. Perhaps his grandfather was right, the big ice would return soon to make everything right again. A new ice age would be welcome to him.
This was a good place, he decided. He could make a camp here. It was more than fifty miles away from the nearest track. Cikuq began to carve blocks of compressed snow to make an igloo, quickly getting the round base started.
Something on the barren horizon caught his eye. It appeared to be the carcass of a wolf. Food was scarce here in the Artic wastes. It probably would not be fit for him to eat, but it might be suitable meat for his dogs. Cikuq trudged over to the carcass in his snowshoes. Yes, it was a wolf, and fresh too, from the look of it.
He bent down to gather it up and was surprised to find that it still held some warmth. It must have died very recently or, just maybe, it might still be alive? He held his hand to its muzzle. Yes, there was still some breath. He decided to see if he could revive the animal. He noticed that it was a female, a little bitch.
It appeared to be not much older than a pup and perhaps he could raise it to work as a sled dog. The dogs might be wary of a wolf at first, but he could introduce it to them gradually and get the dogs to accept the wolf pup. After all, malamute dogs were not that far removed from wolves.
Cikuq tucked the pup inside his parka, sharing his body warmth with the nearly dead animal. He took it back to the beginnings of his igloo. He was pleased to feel that it was beginning to stir, regaining consciousness. He set the pup down in a pile of furs to help it stay warm as he finished building the igloo. Awake now, the animal regarded him with strangely knowing eyes as he worked.
His dogs caught the scent of the wolf pup and they began howling in protest. Cikuq spoke sharply to the dogs and they quieted down. The dogs knew that they were to rest here, and they quickly dug themselves shelters in the snow to keep warm. Soon the igloo was completed and Cikuq took the pup inside with him. He melted some snow for himself and for the pup and it lapped up the water. He offered it some dried meat and the hungry pup quickly accepted the treat and ate it.
Cikuq was pleased to see that the pup might live. Surprisingly it seemed to have no fear of him. Perhaps it came from a northern wolf pack that was far removed from humans. He said to himself, "Well now, little wolf, we must think of a name for you." Suddenly the name "Miki" came into his mind, just as though someone had spoken it.
Cikuq had an eerie feeling, as though there was some unknown presence here in the igloo with him and the pup. He looked more closely at the animal and was struck by its eyes. There was a strangely knowing intelligent look to its eyes that the man had never seen before in any animal. "No, I must be imagining things," he thought, trying to dismiss the notion from his mind.
"Thank you for saving me." came a thought, as sharply as though it had been spoken aloud. The Eskimo man saw that it definitely came from the pup and his eyes widened in surprise. The animal seemed to be smiling at him.
"No, I must be going crazy," he thought, denying the idea of such intelligence.
"No one wants to believe in my kind anymore." came another thought, this time with much sadness. "People would rather see my kind dead and gone forever. I am prepared to leave you, human, and go away to die. I would be dead now if you had not rescued me."
Cikuq regarded the wolf pup warily, wondering at the thoughts that came to his mind so clearly. Finally he asked, "What are you?" realizing that this was more than a wolf pup.
"Some call me an anthrop wolf. As you see, I appear to be a wolf, but I am more than that. My mind is partly human, and indeed I am a cross between wolves and humans. My father was an old man, and I am the last of his seed. He had many children like me, but the others are all gone now. I am the last on my kind."
Chills ran up Cikuq's spine. "My grandfather told me of an old legend about creatures like you. It was such an old legend, and so unlikely that even he did not believe it. But he wanted me to know as much as possible about the old ways that had been handed down to him. Most of my people are no longer interested in such ways, preferring the soft life that the white man has brought to them."
Miki smiled at him. "It is good that you honor the old ways, human. Few do anymore. My father thought that he was the last of his kind, but perhaps he was wrong about that. It is good that you have chosen to escape from the others and come out here to make a life for yourself."
Cikuq was still uncomfortable with this legendary creature. "Grandfather told me that the legend said that creatures like you steal away the spirits of people and drive them mad, making them see things that are not really there. I think perhaps it would be better if you leave me now. I will not kill you, but I do not trust you either, wolf creature."
"Well, that is better than I would expect from most humans. Most fear my kind so much that they would kill me as soon as they realized what I am. That is how many of my brothers and sisters died, killed by human hunters who wandered into this wilderness. But if you are willing to listen, let me assure you that I will do you no harm, human."
"Indeed I can be a help to you, because I know many of the old ways that were lost long ago, even to men like your grandfather. If you will let me stay with you, I will be your companion and a help to you. I can help you hunt down prey, and we can share the kills together. Yes, and enough to feed your dogs too. Once I get my strength back, I can even help pull your sleigh. I will get the dogs to accept me."
"And there is something else. On cold nights we can snuggle together to keep warm. You have no female with you, and you may get lonely. I am a female you know, and I would be willing to help you that way too." Miki seemed to be laughing at him, he thought.
For just a moment when he looked at her, Cikuq imagined the creature as a beautiful girl of about 13 winters. His mind must be playing tricks on him. Her suggestion that they might couple together caused him to see her as a desirable girl. He shook his head and looked again, and saw Miki as a wolf once more.
"Well Miki, I don't know. You may be trying to bewitch me. Know that I will be on guard with you, in case you try to steal my spirit from me. But I suppose we can give it a try and see how things work out. By the way, I am called Cikuq." He realized that he had called the creature by the name she had given him through her thoughts.
"Cikuq. That is a good strong name for such a brave man. And thank you for calling me by name. No one has called me Miki in a very long time, not since my father was alive. By the way although I am small for a wolf, I am not just a pup as you thought. I have lived through six winters now."
Like a huge hammer the wind battered the walls of the igloo. "The big ice has come," Miki said, "You must bring the others inside or they will freeze."
"But they have not accepted you."
"Fear not, Cikuq. I can speak to them and they will understand that it will be life or death for them. Under such circumstances, their natural enmity for me will be forgotten."
"You can do that?"
"I am wolf and not wolf. I am human and not human. I have the power and knowledge of both and more. Yet without a companion, I have no will to go on living. There is one more thing you should know about me. I can help you see things as you would wish them to be. It is not that I am forcing you to see things, but I simply enable your own imagination. You wished to see me as a girl for a moment, and so you did."
Miki seemed to be very honest with him. He did not know if he could trust this ancient creature, but he had little choice. Without the remaining dogs, both of them would die. Cikuq left the igloo to bring in the dogs.
Miki no longer wanted to die. She wanted to live. She wanted to see the return of her kind and this brave human male would make a suitable mate. He had almost been right when he said she would steal his spirit, but that is not what she would take. She would take his heart and make him love her.
She called to the wind, and the power she sought was granted to her. She no longer felt weak, her energy was renewed. His heart would be hers now. She knew the storm would last a long time and she would use that time to draw him even closer to her. His own imagination would help make him hers.
Cikuq felt strange as he brought the four dogs into the shelter of the igloo. They whined at first at the presence of the wolf creature, but somehow she spoke to their minds and the dogs settled down. Just that quickly, she had caused them to accept her. When the man was done covering the dogs, he heard his name.
"Cikuq," Miki called in a soft voice.
He turned and saw her under the furs. She no longer looked like a wolf, but a beautiful young human girl of thirteen winters. Indeed she was the embodiment of everything that he considered to be beautiful. He remembered she had told him that she could enable his imagination and he saw now that it was true.
She lowered the furs off her breast. Cikuq was drawn to her soft warm flesh like a hungry pup to his mother's teats.
"Come to me, Cikuq, and feel the warmth of my breast."
He shed his parka, gloves and boots. He leaped the short distance and landed next to her. He put his hands on the soft flesh and strangely felt the need to suckle. He held her in his arms, put one of her nipples in his mouth, and sucked like a new born baby as she crooned to him.
He lifted his head and inhaled her scent. Her aroma was like the fresh fallen snow. Like the midnight sun, God's lights in the sky, all the beauty of nature, along with the tearing of flesh, and the blood of life and death.
He guided his hand across her skin. She was soft and warm as sunlight on his face, but her lean frame spoke to him with the coiled power of a wolf. Yet he did not feel the need to fear her.
She was giving herself to him as he was to her, and it was an unspoken pact of respect and love. He shed the rest of his clothing. They continued to explore each other's flesh as the storm raged around them.
Miki guided his hand to her pubic mound and placed her other hand on his cock. They kissed. The dogs watched and yawned. He opened her small lips and began to explore her cunt. She stroked his shaft.
Cikuq felt her small bulb and he caressed it between his fingers. She gazed into his eyes and softly said, "Take me."
He lay on the warm furs. He watched her open her legs and saw the pink puffiness of her inner walls, enticing him to enter. He raised himself above her. She reached for him, took his cock, and guided it into her. It was the young hunter's first time, as it was hers.
Yet they felt no need to rush the act. Instead, they slowly pushed together. Like the first flakes of the storm, they moved as one, gathering into each other. Building like the north wind, they increased their pace.
Pelvic bone to pelvic bone, they met and separated. Harder, faster, muscle, bone and blood. Heart of fire and love. Mashing, sweating, joining, becoming one. It seemed to go on forever, like time had stopped just for them. They joined with the past, the present and the future.
Wolf and man, man and woman, anthrop in a haze. Who was who no longer mattered, they were one. He pumped his seed into her. Her cunt milked his seed into her womb. They rested only briefly. Their need for each other was great.
Cikuq cried out with delight and he took her again with a zest such as he had never known before. The coupling with her was not imaginary, it was very real and it was intense. Like the wind, the storm, and the snow.
When at last they were both sated, he remembered that he was seeing her as he imagined her to be. He willed himself to see her as she truly was, and then he realized that he was snuggled up close to a hairy wolf and he had just fucked her. For a moment he felt some fright, but he managed to control and subdue it. He accepted her for what she was.
Miki smiled at him, a very toothy grin. "Very good, my brave Cikuq. You have willed yourself to see me as I am, and you have accepted me as your mate. Most men can never manage that, even after years together with one like me. It makes me feel closer to you than you can know. But you do not need to do that. It is in no way dishonest for you to see me as a beauty of your own kind, especially when we are making love."
Cikuq chuckled and stroked her fur lovingly. "I no longer fear you, my dear Miki. I would never have imagined that I would ever want to make love to a wolf, but you are much more than that. Still I do like to see you as a human girl too. Perhaps I will allow myself to see you as both, depending on my mood."
Miki laughed and stretched herself beside him, and suddenly she was the beautiful young girl again. They laughed and played and made love together as the storm howled outside. The dogs curled up and watched their master as he made love to one who was like them, yet unlike them. They dozed off then, content to be in the warmth of the igloo.
Three days later the storm ended. Cikuq and Miki went out into the sunshine, reflecting brightly off of the new fallen snow. They needed to hunt and replenish their supply of meat. Miki soon proved her worth. Somehow she spoke to the minds of the dogs, and organized them into a hunting pack. She led the way and before long they located a herd of reindeer that had taken shelter in a valley.
The dogs circled behind the reindeer and drove them towards Cikuq and Miki. He used traditional bow and arrows to bring down three of the deer as they passed close by his location. Miki jumped onto a fourth, and snarling she soon managed to rip out its throat. Cikuq was a bit put off seeing how viciously she could kill her prey. But then she was a wolf creature, after all.
Cikuq butchered the reindeer they had taken, and there was plenty of meat to go around. Even the dogs were able to eat their fill, a rare treat for them. They now accepted Miki as the leader of their pack, even though she was a female.
And so it was that the man, the anthrop wolf, and their dogs became a skilled hunting unit sufficient unto themselves as they claimed a territory as their own, one that few others would want. Within months, Miki was pregnant with Cikuq's child. He realized that his child would look like its mother, more wolf than human, yet it would be his child too.
It was spring now, not so bitter cold, and one day they happened upon a snowmobile pulling a sled. Warmer weather had caused someone to venture farther north than usual. Something had caused the engine to die and the driver had been unable to fix it. He lay face down in the snow, dead, perhaps from a heart attack. Bundled up in the sled was a young girl, weak with hunger, but unwilling to leave the sled and her dead father and try to make her way back home.
The girl told him her name was Kirima, and she was 12 years old. Cikuq fed the girl and gave her shelter in his igloo. She watched warily as the wolf with him circled her, looking at her with penetrating eyes. How strange it was to see such a wild creature calmly pacing about the igloo as though it were her own den. Cikuq said the wolf would not harm her.
Once Kirima was refreshed and rested, Cikuq offered to take her back home to her people. But the girl told him she did not want to go back. Haltingly, she told him that she had been raped by the village head man, and when she told her father he had killed the head man. The other villagers had driven them out. She asked if she might stay with Cikuq.
Cikuq did not know what to think about this unexpected event. He was quite content with Miki and thought he had no need for another girl. But then Miki spoke to his mind.
"Let her stay if she wishes it, my mate. The children I will bear you will all be of my kind. But she can be your second mate, and the children she will bear you will be human. I know you will raise your children in the traditions of the fathers, and not in the decadent ways of the other humans. In time, it may be that her children will mate with mine. In that way, both of our races may continue."
Cikuq saw the wisdom of Miki's words. "You will not be jealous of my taking a second mate, my love?" he said. Kirima looked confused. She had not heard the thoughts spoken by Miki, but she did hear Cikuq's strange words about a second mate.
Miki then allowed the human girl to hear her reply. "No, dear Cikuq. I will not be jealous of your new mate. Kirima and I will be friends together. You know how we women love to talk to one another. We will all be one happy family, you will see."
Cikuq chuckled at her words. Kirima was amazed as she heard the thoughts as though they had been spoken directly to her mind. She stared at the she wolf, realizing that the thoughts had come from her. "Wh-what are you?" she asked, confused and frightened.
"Do not be alarmed, Kirima. I am more than a wolf, part human you see, and yet even more than that. No one will harm you. You are welcome here. We will both be mates to the mighty hunter, Cikuq, and we will be the mothers of new races. It will be a hard life here in the wilderness, but a good life too. I sense that you are up to it, dear girl."
It took some time for Kirima to get used to her new life, but Miki was right. She was a brave young girl, and soon she adapted to life with her new family. The females became close friends, and they had no problem sharing Cikuq's affections.
The first time that Cikuq shared Kirima's furs with her, he felt a bit self-conscious, as Miki watched them from her own furs. But the she-wolf sent her thoughts to him. "Do not mind my presence, my love. I only want to share in the joys you take with your new mate. Forget my presence and devote yourself to the delights of your new mate."
Cikuq smiled as he recognized how wise Miki's advice was. He bent then and softly kissed Kirima's warm lips. He nuzzled her nose with his in Eskimo tradition. The young girl smiled up at him, relaxing as she realized that he intended to be gentle with her. Cikuq removed her clothing much as a child might unwrap a Christmas present, eager to see what was inside the package.
Kirima's breasts were not fully developed yet, for she was only 12 years old. But her cherry-red nipples erected nicely at his touch and he delighted in sucking at them, much to her delight. He kissed his way slowly down her body, pausing to tease her navel with his tongue and making the girl giggle. He laughed with her as they enjoyed the closeness.
Moving down lower over her belly, Cikuq observed that her new, dark pubic hair was still sparse. It did little to hide the delightful cleft of her female sex. She seemed to read his thoughts and spread her legs for him, allowing her inner lips to pout open redly and reveal the hidden secrets of her girlhood within.
The young man delighted in exploring the inner female pinkness with his fingers, tracing his way from her sensitive clitoris, over her pee-hole, and down to her moist vagina. Cikuq slipped his fingers inside her and explored as much of her love tunnel as his fingers could reach. Kirima had been penetrated once before by the village head man who had raped her, so there was no need to be concerned about breaking through any hymen.
The girl responded to the fingers exploring her body by thrusting her hips up at him. She let down her juices, wetting his fingers. Cikuq saw that she had a nice tight cunt and she was quite willing to mate with him. It was time. He straddled her and gently slid his erect cock inside her, joining his body to hers for the first time. The girl cried out and threw her arms and legs around him, hugging him tightly to herself, eager for the joining. The young couple fucked each other enthusiastically, their hips rutting together with abandon.
Before long the girl cried out her orgasm, and her vaginal muscles clenched his cock and made him cum with her. They rested briefly as he caressed her face gently, and then they started all over. When at last they had spent themselves fully, Cikuq noticed Miki smiling at them with approval.
"Well done, my love." came her thoughts to his mind. He was glad to see that she was not the least bit jealous and that she fully accepted the sharing of him with Kirima. The girl was different from Miki. She was a bit too thin, not perfect. Cikuq could envision Miki as his idea of a perfect female. But Kirima had a few minor faults. Somehow though that only made her more human, more real. He grew to love Kirima, but secretly Miki remained his favorite.
A few months later Miki gave birth to a little female pup. The dogs accepted it as a new member of their pack. Then one of the dog bitches had a pair of puppies. Cikuq was glad to see that as they would need more dogs in the future. Finally even Kirima became pregnant, and some time later she gave birth to a little boy.
And so it was that Miki's thoughts came true. She would not be the last of her kind after all, but instead would be the mother of a renewed race. Cikuq would see to it that a new race of his kind, the children of Kirima, would be self-sufficient hardy humans who would continue in the old ways of the ancestors.
Far to the south, the world descended into warfare as people became increasingly lazy and developed the habit of taking from others, rather than producing goods by their own labor. Many such humans would thus prove unworthy of continuing to live. In time, the wars would expand, and the selfish people would kill one another off.
Meanwhile, as the world grew increasingly colder, a few of the more northerly native outposts were abandoned, as the people moved farther south. In time Cikuq's offspring would claim these abandoned villages as their own, being a hardier people. They had an advantage in hunting game, thanks to their close cooperation with their wolf brothers and sisters, and they could live successfully in climates that were forbidden to others.
Many survivors of the world-wide wars to the south would also prove worthy. In years to come, some of them would mate with Cikuq's offspring and they would eventually become the future of humankind. Miki's descendants would once again be revered by humans, and they would take their rightful place as wolf partners of the new human race.
