I know that many of you are tempted with the thought of writing a story but are not sure of yourselves. This little piece is being presented with the hope that it may not only encourage you, but that it may also give you some guidance about the importance of editing. A good story can be made great and a poor one can be made readable, if only the writer will take the time to work on it after he has committed his initial thoughts to a first draft. A story came to my email address asking my opinion as to whether or not it had any merit. It was this guy's first attempt at writing. Rather than give a breakdown of the many little errors, I took his story and fixed the spelling and punctuation errors and then added data that was needed to allow the reader to understand it.

As the reader can see, the original has approximately 2000 characters. My version has 5000. Obviously, it is still not a 'Purvv' story, because I made every effort to simply fill out what the guy missed but would have written if he had taken the time to reread his version, at least to himself, and think it out.

What follows is the guy's story, untouched, followed by my edited version:
