"M,F" should be adults, 18 and older. "m,f" should be teens, 13 - 17. "t" Teenage male (used in gay stories). They aren't always, because posters are careless (or clueless). Also, in the bondage/dominance community, "M" is sometimes a male dominant, "m" is a male submissive, etc. |

| F,f,g | are all females (woman, teen girl, preteen girl) |
| M/F | is adult heterosexual sex |
| f/f | is teen lesbian sex |
| MMM~f | means adult men gang-banging a teenaged girl |
| M+/F | Means several men and one woman |
| M/F+ | Means one man and several women |
| Style: | Any or all of these might be capitalized. Usually no difference. |
| 1st | First time intercourse; also first time FF or MM. |
| anal | Anal sex |
| B/D, b/d, BD, bd | bondage and discipline |
| best, beast | bestiality, sex with animals |
| bi, bisex | bisexuality of one or more characters |
| blackmail, bm, b/m | cooperation through threat of exposure |

| creampie | male ejaculate, as sucked out of a vagina or anus, and consumed by another individual |

| Fembot, fembot | a female robot, designed to give sexual pleasure. Non-capitalized indicates the robot is designed to look like a teenaged girl |
| filk | new lyrics to a familiar (as in folk) tune |
| fist | fisting; insertion of the entire hand into anus or vagina |
| frott | frotteurism; a paraphilia involving rubbing against a nonconsensual person to achieve sexual arousal or even orgasm, discreetly without being discovered, typically in a public place such as a crowded train. |

| nc | non-consensual sex. This is rape in law, but the style may be different |
| nec, necro | necrophilia. Sex with a dead person |
| nosex, nonsex | there is no intercourse in the story. This is a pre-emptive code in the sense that it overrides any implication of intercourse by the other codes used. |

| reluc | reluctant; subject says "no", but loves it afterwards |
