Storyline <Brief outline only> The story revolves around the serendipitous meeting of a couple who have been communicating on the internet for years. For reasons I won't expand on here, both of them prefer sex with male dogs. The secret they have shared has brought them close as on- line persona's but will the magic last now they have met in person? Merits <What was worthy of comment> The feeling of how being involved in a pursuit thought to be 'unacceptable' by many others affects individuals is carefully observed. The protagonist's are both to varying extents damaged, both by societies scorn and actual events. Tom's pain at the loss of his fertility to a violent, bigoted woman is haunting. Even more appalling is the treatment of Tom 'the victim' as being at fault, and responsible for his attack due to his liking for anal penetration. For any right thinking person this is the anathema to any form of justice 'natural' or otherwise. Demerits <What detracted from the story> Some of the passages are hard to read, not due to any error of English or grammar; no the difficulty comes from the bleakness of the subject matter. If the reader perseveres through the uncomfortable descriptions there is a heart-warming message of hope and redemption. Atmosphere <How well evolved was the environment> Marks out of 20 <18> This is impressive, for many readers the world of zoo is as alien as one can imagine. STC opens a window onto the life style, and allows us a glimpse of it. This is done with an open honesty that defuses the controversial nature of the subject, and allow us to have some understanding of zoo, as just another aspect of human sexuality. The paranoid aspects of any 'hidden' life-style is well observed. Workflow <How well did the story progress and develop> Marks out of 20 <16> Very nicely, from the chance meeting, through to the final word, everything unfolds smoothly. My only gripe would be the scene in which Tom and Jolene start their sexual relationship. There is something and I can't quite put my finger on it that rings a little false. Although they are naturists I feel they would hold back more from the discarding of clothes. I think it is very early in their 'real' relationship for this level of intimacy, neither of them are quite sure of each other away from the artifice of the internet. Eroticism <Just how erotic a read is this (erotic, not sexy!)> Marks out of 20 <12> The eroticism of the story is tempered by the bleakness of some of the events. It's hard to be carried away when grim reality earths you so often. Mechanics <The boring bit, grammar, typo's etc.> Marks out of 20 <17> Of the authors normally high standards. Impression <What did I feel having read the story, did I want to read more?> Marks out of 20 <14> Now that is hard to answer, I usually read to get away from reality and grimness. The themes of this story dwell very much in the arena of 'hard knocks', STC handles this well. Yotna less so, it tends to distress him. This is a good story and it deals with several difficult subjects in its stride. Total score 77 Yotties out of 100. <An average score would therefore be 50> Readability guide 00-20 must try harder. 20-40 needs development 40-60 readable 60-80 good read 80-99 should read 100 reserved for my stories :-) _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN Search Toolbar now includes Desktop search! http://toolbar.msn.co.uk/ -- Pursuant to the Berne Convention, this work is copyright with all rights reserved by its author unless explicitly indicated. +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | alt.sex.stories.moderated ------ send stories to: <ckought69@hotmail.com>| | FAQ: <http://assm.asstr-mirror.org/faq.html> Moderators: <story-ckought69@hotmail.com> | +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |ASSM Archive at <http://assm.asstr-mirror.org> Hosted by <http://www.asstr-mirror.org> | |Discuss this story and others in alt.sex.stories.d; look for subject {ASSD}| +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
