A Touch of Art (Chapter 5)
By Naive, shattered_mind@hotmail.com

It was sometime later when Roger woke up. His surroundings were
completely foreign. The walls were all hard stone and the only
ornaments on the walls were a set of chains hanging from the ceiling
and those attached to the floor. The single bed Roger was lying on
seemed to be the only furniture besides a small bedside table. Leaving
the large room with an empty abandoned feeling to it. It was hard to
shake the cobwebs free from inside his head. Everything seemed fogy and
surreal. But, after a few minutes things started to clear up and the
nightmare of the days before came crashing back.

Sara his best friend had betrayed him. His teacher had abused and
humiliated him. And a doctor had defiled and ripped away the last of
the trust he had. It took all his strength to fight back the tears that
tried to break free. Looking down at himself he could see that his arm
was still in the cast that Geri had put on him. A warm blanket was
pulled all the way up his chest. He could feel more then see that he
was still bereft of clothes, but something else was new. Using his free
hand he pulled up the blanket a little and could see that his ankles
were held in a pair of leather anklets locked to the posts of the bed.

Sinking back down into his pillow he let out a small sob knowing
that he was trapped and they'd never let him get away. Depressed and
alone he slipped back into a fretful sleep.

Roger wasn't sure how much time had passed when voices from a
little alcove awoke him. He could only guess that that was were the
stairs going up were. It was the intensity of the voices that woke him.
Someone over there was yelling at someone else. Straining he could just
make them out.

"He's mine and I'm not leaving him here!" Sara yelled.

"We had a deal my dear and until it's fulfilled he belongs to
me." Ronda yelled back.

"If you hadn't of screwed up we would be having this conversation
right now." Sara's words were bitten off with a fury that he'd never
heard before.

"But now he's a danger to us all. And until I'm satisfied that
he's under control he's not leaving here, if that has to be forever."
Ronda's voice also held a savage pitch.

"Ladies please!" Geri spoke loudly but with a calm control to it.
"He'll only stay here a few days until Ronda can make arrangements for
him. Then you both can yell as much as you see fit. But ... while he's
here in my home he belongs to me." Geri let her words sink in. "And if
I think he's a threat I'll deal with him."

"What do you mean by that Geri?" Sara said in a quite threatening
whisper that echoed through the large basement.

"You know what it means Sara." Geri hissed. "Theirs more at stake
here then one petulant little boy. I will not risk my career for him or
any of you. So get that through your head. He either falls in line or
we remove him as a problem."

"Geri!" Ronda said in a surprised voice. "You know we don't work
that way!"

"You listen to me Ronda. I will not. WILL NOT allow that one boy
ruin everything!" Geri hissed again. "So you better do your damndest to
make him fall in line. This isn't a game anymore. It might have been
when all the toys agreed to it, but this one and what we've done to
some of the others will have us in jail; not just out looking for new
jobs. I could lose my license over this."

"Geri you got to far." Ronda huffed.

"Think Ronda!" Geri snarled. "You're the one that caused all
this. You were suppose to be sure before you pulled him in. And after
what happened to him, if it were me; I'd be away from both of you as
fast as I could, right to the police having you both locked up. No!
This is your fault and you have to deal with it. You dragged me into
this mess." With a huff Geri stormed up the stairs slamming the door on
the way out.

"She's not serious is she?" Sara asked in a much unsteadier
voice.

"Oh, I think she's deadly serious." Ronda said with a shake of
her head. "This is my mess though. So, I won't let her do anything to
Roger." With a sigh she said, "It's all suppose to be fun and games.
But this is no longer fun or a game."

Quickly closing his eyes and laying back Roger listened as the
came into the room proper.

"We ... no you have to convince him that he needs to keep quiet
about all this. If he even thinks about going to the police Geri will
silence him permanently." Ronda said in a defeated voice. "If I knew
how this was going to turn out I would never have agreed to this."

"I know what you mean." Sara sighed. "He means too much to me to
let Geri hurt him - I'd rather go to jail first."

"Quiet girl!" Ronda said looking around. "If she's willing to
silence him do you think she's even blink at doing you?"

Roger felt Sara's soft palm lay across his forehead.

"Come on we have things to do." Ronda said dragging Sara back out
of the basement.

----

It was hours later when the gentle prick and quick pain woke him.
Looking around Roger saw Geri smiling down at him.

"Hello Roger. How are you feeling?"

"Bound, with a splitting headache." Roger snapped back.

"I'm glad to see that you're getting some of your spirit back."
Geri laughed. "I can't believe they didn't see the fire in you. If I'd
have met you before this whole thing started none of this would have
ever happened."

"Are you going to let me go?" Roger asked a little shocked that
Geri might even consider it after what he heard earlier.

"Oh, I might. After I get a few answers." She just stood there
and watched him.

"Ask away!" Roger said though an odd feeling was starting to
float through him. His head was starting to loose and empty, and sweat
started to bead up all over him.

"I will as soon as the Sodium Pentothal kicks in." Geri laughed
at the shocked look on Roger's face. "Now you didn't think that I'd
just believe any old answer you told me, do you?"

"Why?" Roger croaked out as his head changed from empty to vice
like.

"Because I want the truth. No, I need the truth to make sure I do
the right thing." Geri shook her head. "Really Roger I'm sorry that all
this had to happen to you. Now for some answers. What's your name?"

"Roger Davies Hawthorn." Roger slurred a little.

"Good, now what are your plans once Sara and Ronda get back?"

"I'm going to act like I'm willing to be their slave. Fall in
line a little so Geri won't kill me. Then when I have enough leeway
I'll sneak away to the police."

"Oh Roger! Why did you have to say that?" Geri slumped in her
chair. "Do you really think I was going to kill you?"

"Yes." Roger's words tumbled from him.

"Really Roger I'd never do that to you. But, I'm not sure that
you'll be all that happy with the alternative either." Geri leaned down
and looked into his eyes. "You see I have a friend who trains and sells
real slaves. Now, you'll be going with her in the morning. I'm really
very sorry Roger." Geri sighed and pulled a chair from behind the bed
and toke Roger's hand. "I usually abhor slavery in its true form, but
Jennifer does all her trading outside the country where it's legal. I
like her as a person though I detest her profession. Normally I'd have
nothing to do with it, but you force me to. I've worked to hard to get
where I am. I'm sorry. All I can do is promise you that I'll make sure
that you find a nice home. Sleep now." Geri pulled her hand from Rogers
and left him alone to ponder his fate.

----

It was sometime early in the morning when Geri reappeared. He was
sure that sometime during the night she, Sara, and Ronda had come back
in to see him, but he was too out of it to say anything intelligible.
The small windows around the upper edge of the wall were streaming in
light. During the night they'd been so cloaked in darkness that he
hadn't even noticed them. Also sometime while he slept the cast had
been removed and his hands were secured.

It wasn't until Geri looked over her shoulder that Roger noticed
the other woman with her. She was short and tan. Her golden tresses
played fitfully over her shoulders as she walked. Her face was pretty,
but seemed to have a hard edge, but it was nothing compared to the
knives that played in her eyes. Roger could tell with but a glance that
this woman was a predator.

"Good morning Roger." Geri said with a smile that was definitely
forced because her eyes seemed much sadder then the night before. "I
want you to meet a friend of mine this is Jennifer."

"You can call me master." Jennifer said in a harsh voice. "From
now on you belong to me. Say nothing, do nothing - unless I tell you
to. From now on you're property so get use to thinking of yourself that
way." Jennifer turned to Geri. "Dope him up I'll have the boys come
down and pick him up." Turning a glance back at Roger, he could see a
fire in her eyes. "Be seeing all of you soon." With that she left.

        "I'm really sorry Roger."

"Save it." Roger tried to hold onto the anger though his despair
was overwhelming. "You'll get no forgiveness from me." With a short
tear filled nod Geri pressed the needle into his arm and within minutes
the world was black.

----

"Where is he?" Sara screamed as she waved the bat back for
another swing. "You tell me right now or I'll kill you!"

"I don't know." Geri's voice quivered as she pulled back into the
corner trying to keep out of range. Broken glass, metal lids, tongue
depressors, and cotton swabs littered about her feet.

"You tell me right now! I'm warning you!" Sara screamed as she
smashed the bat into one of the few unbroken glass cabinets.

"He's gone!" Geri sobbed as she sank to the floor. "Someone came
for him. I don't know where he is anymore. I'm sorry." Sara tossed the
bat away and leaned down. Broken glass cutting through her jeans into
the flesh underneath, but Sara ignored the pain as she grabbed Geri's
collar and looked her in the eyes. She could smell the alcohol think on
her breath and the red tinge to her eyes. "I tried to call her. Tried
to get him back, but it's to late she's gone. He's gone."

"Tell me..." Sara begged desperately. "Tell me everything."

It was well into the night before Sara headed out with few clues
and even less faith. All she could do was search, and hope. Her Roger
was out there and the world be damned if anyone was going to keep him
from her.
