---Why are some words in the story printed in bold?
Some of the words are printed in bold to emphasize them, as the characters are doing when they say them.
Example: This cock is huge.
This cock is huge.
This cock is huge.
Without emphasizing any words, you'd read three completely similar sentences. By embolding certain words, however, you get the idea of what a character is emphasizing when he/she is saying something.
I try to keep it to a relative minimum, but I will emphasize words when I feel it helps underline the way certain things are said by the characters for the sake of the story.
---So why are some words both in bold AND in caps?
Because the characters make even more of an effort to emphasize those words, for the benefit of those they are saying them to.
