FOUNDLING: LOST AND FOUND [ part 29 ] Her arms being yanked over her head rudely awakened Melissa. She woke to being dragged on her thankfully black skirt covered knees. Her writs were tied to the rear of the accommodation wagon Foundling and her had slept in. Fortunately it was just moving to it'd position in the wagon convoy and she was able to pull herself up. The iron shod hooves of the two-horse team pulling the wagon behind, no more than a meter away. Her body ached from probably hanging by her wrists there most of the night. Someone at least slipped the peasant white blouse and ankle length black peasant skirt back on her, or her lower legs would have been badly scratched up by the gravel on the side of the road. Her handler walked around the wagon, a tin cup of something hot in one hand and her school saddle shoes in the other. Melissa lifted one leg at a time and he put the shoes on, slipping fingers up her leg, rubbing her hairless mound, cupping her firm little buns and probing her sex as he did so. Melissa said nothing, he had been relatively kind to her and she could not have stopped him anyway. He held up the cup, Melissa tasted black coffee and sipped at it. She blew on it to cool it and he smiled. His face and sparkling eyes told her, he had other uses for her pouty mouth in mind. She finished drinking the coffee just as the wagon jerked her foreword. Left alone, Melissa began to worry about Foundling. She was not sexually naive, and knew what the leader had in mind when he took Melissa's place on top of Foundling. This had been their sleeping carriage and as she was tied right behind the access door, banged her forehead on it twice. Her actions incurred no response from inside, nor the driver of the horse team behind. She glanced back, his head was lolling as he slept, reigns slack in hands lying on his lap. A few minutes later she tried again, and this time, a barely audible response from inside. She banged her head thrice, and three bangs echoed from inside. Melissa smiled, life was the shits, but at least her lover was near. Warhawk Mavis stood at one side of the dark, tree fenced clearing." And how do I even call that thing" She thought. "Phoenix" suffices" She heard in her mind as the black bird descended silently right in front of her. "Dam, but you could have made some kind of sound," Mavis thought as its underside opened as a reverse flower bud. "Do you always bitch so much about your six team mates?” It said. "When they annoy me" Mavis replied. "Why an I talking to an inanimate object?" "I am as alive as you are Mavis. It replied. I was born, raised and modified just as the Alice's are" "Question" It, said. "Yes?" Mavis replied. "Yes is the answer to a question I have not yet asked?" Intuitive you might be, but my thought processes will be alien to you. It penitently replied. "Yes as in "Yes, how can I help you" or "Yes I will answer your question" Mavis injected. It is a common human response. "Why is your weapon fixed on low power?" It inquired. "Can you fix it?" Mavis inquired. "Done" Phoenix told her. "What was wrong?" Mavis sweetly inquired. "First time users have it set for low power until they become accustomed to it. You must have been near an Alice. Their proximity renders all the recovered Atlantiean technology inoperable. It is a built in safety device we both have. You can remove a human sized target, but it can only absorb so much mater to energy transference at one time. A large multi person transport will put it off line for an hour, larger longer in a progressively higher logarithmic ratio. It was initially an energy recovery device for we interplanetary transports after all." The flyer instructed. "Interplanetary?" Mavis queried. "Yes, big brothers need to be charged up, but instantaneous transport between solar bodies is old hat" For the Phoenix's "I am going to really miss you when this mission is over" Mavis told it. To bad your mistress Alice wants you back" "I am as sentient as you and as free" Your activities interest me more than my regular courier duties. I will hang around at your beck and call for a while" It told her. So what are we up to now?" "We have to go to Berlin Germany" Mavis said, No big deal, you can be their in a second" "Well it might take a bit longer than that" Phoenix replied. We have to catch up with your solar system first" The ship went opaque and Mavis sat stunned as the blackness of space, filled with stars showed them rapidly moving back into the solar system. "While we talked, I stopped movement and your system progressed on at its regular speed. I will be arriving over Berlin Germany in thirty-seven seconds. "Holy Shit" Said Mavis, In always wanted to be an astronaut" |
